Again this ^ is a long winded load of negative presumptuous tripe with zero actual facts involved. Given both you and
@lancerman replied with the same
"nobody took Zappe when he got moved to the practice squad" I may as well address you both.
Nobody snatched Troy Brown, Danny Amendola, Arian Foster, Brandon Marshall, Jason Peters or Kurt Warner from their original team's practice squad either... did they have
"talent?"
32 teams passed on Brock Purdy for seven rounds right up until the very last pick in the draft... but I can distinctly remember both of you here on draft day pounding the table for the Patriots to pick Purdy in the 7th round... right? I mean, you two have such firm grasp for recognizing talent... right?
Oh wait, no... you weren't here pounding the table for Purdy. And no, you weren't suggesting the 49ers bench their first and second string QB's to put the third stringer in... also the 49ers are such a well run organization, surely they can spot talent and knew they should have been starting Purdy all along... right?
Somebody posted a stat around the end of camp that showed less than 2% of players get poached off practice squads after camp concludes. I would guess that the percentage of QB's that get poached is substantially less. Other teams have their own project QB's, and committing to putting one on your active roster for a month while trying to teach them an
entirely new system a week before the start of the season is a nonstarter... it would be dumb.
BB tried to exploit the league's new practice squad rules this season by grabbing Matt Corral and placing Zappe on the practice squad... and the NFL literally changed the rule so he couldn't. And you think that's indicative of something, even though Zappe never emptied out his locker and knew he was coming back. All this proves is you don't understand the process, or how 32 teams including the Patriots really feel about Zappe.
And again... I said start Zappe or Grier, I don't care who... anyone but Mac.
