Who is Laurence Maroney?

Yesterday was the best I've seen Laurence run in a good while, looked decisive and lowered his shoulder to deliver the blow.
Hope he runs like that more often......the boys will open holes this week!!

The fascinating thing is that he was drafted by a team that doesn't even carry a fullback on the roster.

I've long felt (and said) that the seething anti-Maroney sentiment here is all about his draft status -- something which was out of his hands. Pre-draft in 2006, a lot of fans & observers thought Maroney was a top talent who wasn't a natural fit for the Pats' offense. After they drafted him, we heard a lot of quotes out of the Pats' personnel team saying "He can be our kind of back, wait and see. Minnesota just didn't ask him to do that."

3 years later, it still looks like Maroney is a top talent who isn't a natural fit for the Pats' offense. Go figure.

Then again, the PatsFans community was mostly divided between Manny Lawson and Bobby Carpenter camps, while dreaming impossible dreams of A.J. Hawk. So perhaps we're not perfect either?

actually...that draft we drafted "arguably" the 2nd best rb (after reggie bush, lol) and the 2nd best wide reciever "i forget who was best)

the reciever failed miserably....were still waiting on maroney, but if he continues like he has this past game, hell be just fine

Maroney just needs carries. He ran better as the game went a long and he accumulated some carries.

I think that until Maroney becomes the "game changer" that we all initially hoped he'd become, some will remain unsatisfied with his running. I liked what I saw on Sunday and I look forward to not breathing a sigh of relief that he made it past the line of scrimmage.

Yep, Maroney and Deangelo Williams were vying for #2 & #3 RB status, while it was Chad Jackson vs. Santonio Holmes for the top WR. PatsFans opinions were mixed, as usual, but the most common wish was to go OLB (Lawson or Bobby Carpenter) in the 1st round then try to pick up a WR (typically Maurice Stovall, Greg Jennings or Jason Avant) and an RB (Maurice Jones-Drew or Jerious Norwood) in the 2nd & 3rd.

We ended up with a good, valuable but not game-breaking RB and a disaster of a WR. Sure, Jennings and Jones-Drew would have been a better haul, but Carpenter and Stovall would have been worse. :confused2:

Patchick, how dare you barge onto this thread and offer a sense of perspective. How. Dare. You.
