In the past, overall the best guy to come in and do a great job has been Jarvis Green when one of the front guys went down.

Who do you see as being the best backup on the team?

In other words if a starter anywhere on the team had endured an injury for a few games or so who is the backup you would rest easy with in doing as good a job as the starter?

It can be ANY position on the team although the team is obviously not 100% roster confirmed yet until the final cuts, but at this point who would it be?

I am going to make a wild prediction that if a LB went down I think Pierre Woods would come in a do a great job,I think he has a lot of upside from what I have heard so far...of course Jarvis may once again be the top replacement player on the team overall as usual but I am digging deep here with Woods.

Once the WR situation is settled, Jabar Gaffney and Troy Brown would be great coming in a pinch...

Seau...Meriweather...O'Callaghan/Kaczur (which ever doesn't start)...there are plenty on this team.

I don't know if a 3rd down pass rush specialist is its own position, but I gotta say Jarvis Green is probably the best backup on this team.

It is still Jarvis Green. He is pais as a starter and could start (and has started) at any of the DL positions.

Starting LB's:
Thomas
Bruschi
Vrabel
Colvin

Best backup player in the NFL might be Junior Seau

James Sanders is on my short list with Junior and Jarvis...Mike Wright is no slouch either...

Green, for mgteich's reasons.

Others who shouldn't surprise anybody if they play a whole game and get a star's results:

Seau
Dave Thomas
Several WRs
Several DBs
A couple of OL

Select them from:

Green,
Wright,
Seau,
Sanders,
Thomas (David),
Kaczur,
Hochstein,
Vrabel,
Gay
Britt,
Faulk
Caldwell,
Gaffney

I did not include O'C because he only plays RT, where as Kaczur and Britt can and have have done both;

I did not include Rodney since I list him as a starter, but Sanders is/will be probably the starter & he the reserve by seasons's end;

I did not include Geno since I list him as a starter, but could be a CB, & FS, & slot CB.

That gives the Pats 13 average or better reserves who have starting ability.

A-W-E-S-O-M-E !!
