Where would we be without Brian Waters?

Re: Brian Freakin' Waters

I'm going to go ahead and pretend that Waters was part of the Cassel trade. It will help me feel better about it

Re: Brian Freakin' Waters

He's definitely been a blessing. I could see this team not being quite as successful as it has this season without him.

Re: Brian Freakin' Waters

He has been a monster for us all year, and lets hope that continues. One of the teams MVP so far.

Re: Brian Freakin' Waters

He's now a pro=bowler according to NFL network (though they say he's on KC)

Well done, web dudes!

That's alright, my mom still doesn't know who he is....

Re: Brian Freakin' Waters

For me the thing with Waters was that his play was visible right away in the very first game of the season. I found my self looking at the TV and aksing, "Who the hell is number 54?". The guy has been just stupendous for us, glad he got the pro bowl nod.

Re: Brian Freakin' Waters

Waters is too much of a professional, and too far along in his career, to put up with the insecurities and style of Haley. He's not going to suffer fools. Like 85, he landed in heaven.

Agreed, well put. If he had been acquired in a more traditional way (i.e., earlier in the offseason and without a lockout) this board would have had time to work itself up over Waters, he is an complete beast and has been for some time. I have rarely been as excited over a veteran acquisition as I was for Waters. It was kind of one of those things where I said to my brother, "They got Waters? Is he hurt?" When I saw with my own eyes that he looked healthy, I was happy. He's really one of the better guards of the last ten years in the NFL, and with a healthy Mankins that's an absolutely devastating guard tandem.

Re: Brian Freakin' Waters

Hopefully Brian Waters will hold up in the playoffs, cuz Brady needs time to throw the ball, which will the difference in a win or a loss. Last three playoff games, Brady was sacked a total of 14 times, which includes 5 in the loss to the Jets. Brady needs to be protected in the pocket for the Patriots to win. Teams will score on the Patriots, but the Patriots will score as well.

Re: Brian Freakin' Waters

When the Pats O-line is healthy we have:

Matt Light OLT probowler
Logan Mankins OLG probowler
Koppens OC former probowler
Brian Waters OLG probowler
Seabass Vollmer ORT alternate probowler
and for Depth:

Nate Solder OT 1st rounder occ starter
Marcus Cannon OG/OT 5th rounder occ starter
Dan Connelly OC/G 6th year UDFA occ starter
Ryan Wendell OC 4th year UDFA occ starter

Offense starts with the Offensive line. It is easy to see that the Patriots have rebuilt the Offense and will continue to have a good Offense and Tom Brady will be well protected for the forseeable future.

Easily our most important pickup of the season. From my viewpoint he's outplayed basically everyone on our line. Not only that but I think he's clearly had a large role in helping stabilize play at the center position providing thigh taps and all sorts of assistance to our replacement centers since we've had so many injuries at that position this year.

We're not 12-3 if we don't get the play and leadership we've gotten out of Brian Waters.

Who changed my thread title?

This is about BFW blowing **** up!

I can't be more excited about our upcoming OL prospects.

Its almost ironic that our 2 best OLmen this season are both the oldest. And what I find even more exciting is that both Light and Waters show NONE of the slow erosion you often see in fading offensive linemen. There is NO reason that one would expect either of them not to play at the same high level next year as they did in this one. Given what's behind them, that's scary.

So WITHOUT adding a single new player plus not re-signing Koppen - The Pats can start 3 quality starters all of whom have been to mulitple pro bowls (Light, Mankins, Waters,) ade Three young guys, who have just started to show what they can do in Volmer, Solder and Cannon

And then perhaps the biggest surprise.....quality and depth at C. Don't forget we all thought we were both weak and thin at C before the season. Now he have found out that we can go 4 deep at the position and STILL play more than adequately at the position. Clearly we were wrong

BOTTOM LINE - This is an OL that can go 8 deep and not have a single fan note any concern about how well this OL will perform on Sunday, I don't think of any other OL in the league that could claim that kind of standard

Kind of funny when you think about it on both ends of the "can you imagine" scale.

Can you imagine where we'd be without MaTT Light this year, and as well as "can you imagine" where'd be without Nate Solder. You always figured you have to say one of them, but not BOTH.
