Sorry Baltimore, You got to do a lot more than want it to happen. This isn't 2009, these are completely different teams. This isn't the secondary you saw last year. This isn't a replacement ref sideshow game.

You think you have New England's number? good for you. You think you are destined to win. You think "God" and karma are on your side because your egomaniacal, self serving team leader is retiring? Great, but I would have thought he used up all of his good fortune by being able to live his life as a free man.

I don't see many match ups favoring Baltimore, Their "D" doesn't scare me and I don't see Flacco keeping pace with Brady.

However, I do see Baltimore complaining about every single marginal call that doesn't go thier way.

Pats win 38-21.

It's their destiny to lose tomorrow. That's all.

I am tired how all these guys are treating the ravens like gold. More motivation for the pats to show they are for real. IMO, the pats are and were the most underrated team in the playoffs this year and hoisting the Lombardi trophy in 15 days should open everyone's eyes on how great this team is.

What I don't get is, what's all this talk about the Ravens avenging last year's loss? Whose fault was it that they lost last year after lee evans couldn't hold onto the ball and their kicker missed the game tying field goal? everyone is acting like the pats stole last year's AFCCG from the ravens - the truth is the ravens fumbled it away. so enough with this revenge stuff. the pats did nothing wrong. if anything the ravens are trying to make up for their screw ups last year.

fact - the ravens shouldn't be in the AFCCG. Their second TD last week against Denver, which they scored off a manning interception, should have been called back for defensive pass interference. NO ONE in the media is talking about that. there was clear pass interference by the ravens defender allowing corey graham to get the interception. the refs missed it and dierdorf called it bang bang play and it wasn't. they don't deserve to be here as the broncos were robbed.

fact - the ravens only had 2 drives last week against the broncos that lasted over 2 minutes. if you take away the two hail mary TDs and the missed PI call on their second TD, that's 21 points right there that was gifted to them. ravens simply couldn't sustain drives last week.

Lewis' retirement doesn't mean anything to anyone but Ravens players and their fans.

As far as pure deserving? Both teams DESERVE it equally tonight and the team that wins deserves the spoils of victory.

Clint Eastwood's line at line at the end of the flick "Unforgiven" says it best...

"Deservin's got nothin to do with it..."

Before last weeks games there was panel discussion (Ditka, Mangini and some other stooges) about who they think would win the SB.

Ditka said something like "every year it's like there's a team of destiny, they got all the momentum and they just know they are going to win and this season that team is............................... Seattle!!!"

So, yeah. I've always thought "teams of destiny" are easier to identify after the event.

I think it's just a nicer way of saying how ****ing lucky they are.

I put a lot of stake in the emotional spike Baltimore was going to get with the Lewis announcement. It's an emotional sport. If it was a young team, I wouldn't see as impactful. But giving these old playoff tested goats a little adrenaline was bound to give them a surge. I just wonder how long it sustains, especially after last week.

One thing I will say - I've heard a couple of Lewis' old locker room speeches, moving good stuff. But watching some of these mic'ed up clips, he can also sound like a complete buffoon with the whole "we doo what we doo" routine. I'm wondering if the 17 years of collisions are starting to kick in.

Suggs on the other hand, is funny as hell. He looks like the spawn of predator patrolling the side lines, but it all seems in good fun.

It's the typical feel good story. The NFL or the national media wants Ray Lewis to go out on top. However, he already won a championship with Ben Coates.

Admittedly, I'm tired of this game being a game of revenge for Baltimore too. Really? You want revenge against a team that had nothing to do with you bleeping up in the clutch. That's right, your team Munsoned, not New England.

There's no destiny. You take Lewis out of the equation and this game's nothing more than an AFC Championship rematch against two teams that supposedly dislike each other.

For some fans like myself, there's an added bonus to watching Baltimore lose, if they lose. Seeing what T Fizzle has to say afterward. The guy dislikes Pittsburgh, he dislikes New England, he dislikes Tom Brady. Why because you've insecurities with your team. You're an ugly, ugly looking dude.

jets have a destiny to suck yet again

I guess their destiny is to lose in the AFC Championship one more time

Its just the way people look at it because its a good story. Iam sure all the things you said above applied in some fashion to the 2001 patriots from the rams perspective. People wont care in 5 yrs how baltimore won .

Every team needs a little bit of luck to get where they are.
This may not mean much but BB tells the team in the postgame locker room that they are a better team than the one they beat(texans) and judging BB's expressionless face throught the texan game I think he felt texans werent great. Baltimore he has a tremendous respect for and we should too IMO.

Give those talking deads and jaded hacks a break. This was a tough one. They had to have been grasping to find something to write about on that team. Can you say Borr-rring. Then miraculously Lewis does them a favor of biblical proportions and drops a generous long stinking oily turd of a story right into their laps and barely even asks for a thank you. It couldn't get any easier to plop that sucker into a word processor and shine it up into a golden news nugget unless it came giftwrapped and included it's own choreographed video and soundtrack...

Yeah their destiny is to come to Gillette and get their asses kicked. Go Pats!

Been subjected to various types of this BS all week down here in rat bird land. Get to watch the game at my in laws (Rat bird fans- near B'more), so a Pat's win is personal victory... need to make rat bird mother-in-law eat some Pat's crow!!! Been singing this type of crud and the Ray Ray BS to me all week... Blah Blah Blah.... We'll see. Pulling out all the stops for an in your face environment for her... lucky hat, socks, t-shirt (thanks pro shop!), Maine Clam chowder, Cape Cod chips and snacks, lobster bites, beer from 3 new england states, (thought about boston baked beans... but did I mention I was going to be in the same room with my mother in law?... don't want that funk from her...daaaaaang), a boston creme pie (local bakery), and some Ben and Jerry's. All she's got to offer are some purple decorations and her 'soft crabs'.... which you really don't want to know about your mother in law.

Feel good about the game today. All the sheeeeeet I've been taking this week sounds more like false bravado or nervousness. I respect Ray Lewis, but this game is not all about him. SB birth on the line and the Pats have to focus on execution. Penalties could make the difference today. hardhat and lunch pail time, boys. I believe in our boys... this group is hungry... GOOOOOO PATs!

(repost, should have posted here)

What gets me about the "close loss" last year, it all the talk that the Ravens were just a play away from going to the SB. Which is true in the context of the end of game almost catch by Evens that Sterling Moore knocked out (and the following play).

What I never hear is...were there any plays the Patriots left out there where they could have blow their doors off? the reality is there were, but the perception of those plays happening at the end of regulation/end of game is all that matters.

When I read this thread title, I totally pictured The Jesus saying it.

The stories about Ray and OJ Brigance have been good ones. One a HoF'er and the other showing courage most can only dream about...

Not to sound like too much of a fanboy but the undercurrent story is how this Pats team is still so pissed off from last year's Super Bowl. Obviously Brady, BB, Wilfork and Mankins are still carrying around the pain from 07 that will never go away but to be so close and not pull it out has been the unsaid mantra from training camp to now.

This is a very angry and determined Patriots ballclub.....and no one is talking about it.
