What's REALLY at stake this Sunday

They could make this the best PATRIOTS team of all-time, and that's all I really care about as a Patriots fan. Couldn't care less about outsiders' opinions. There will still be the whiners talking asterisks and cheating and sportsmanship etc. etc. Plus there would still be people saying the 1972 Dolphins were better. How the 2007 Patriots would measure up historically is all opinion.

There are plenty of haters who are NOT appreciating the clinic the Patriots are putting on the rest of the league. Sucks for them. I want this to be the most enjoyable season ever as a Patriots fan, and so far it is shaping up that way. That's all that matters to me.

Anyone who picks the 1972 Dolphins is a moron.

They played the easiest schedule in the history of the NFL (ZERO playoff teams, TWO winning teams).

I don't really see how anyone can put them in the top five if they look at their schedule.

We can't be the "greatest team ever" without winning the Superbowl.

BUT every year there is a Superbowl (and we already have three).

There can only be on "greatest team ever".

Lets appreciate what we're going to be watching on Sunday for what it is, an historic matchup that is very much more than "just another game".

History has proven that it is impossible to watch greatness as it's happening. Greatness is something that is achieved first and appreciated second.

So I can't watch Sunday's game with the idea I'm watching some great historical moment since nothing has been achieved.

Sorry...there is no soaking up the historical implications or watching in awe as history is being written right before mine own eyes. Because it's not...plain & simple.

Only after this team has won a super bowl, can we look "BACK" on this historical season with awe. If we lose, it is as if nothing ever happened.
