The coin filp. Seriously. I think it was among the most important things that happened last night.
Even in a blowout, the ebbs and flows of a football game are a fragile thing. Getting a lead was crucial. The Jets were really able to run very well against us. When you see that a team had 152 yards on the ground, you don't expect to see 3 points on the board.
Win the flip, and sandwich 10 points around a missed field goal, and it was off to the races. On the Jet's next possession, they threw twice, two incompletions, and went 3 and out. And that was it.
The way Brady was playing, I'm not really sure it mattered. But forcing the Jets into a position where they had to put it up in cold weather, and to depart from their running game which was picking up massive yards in chunks, really made the game much more comfortable.
There were some very questionable decisions by Rex in the game. Deferring after winning the flip was the first and a very important one.
