Kickers have been shocking this past year, Gostowski is as solid as they come, give him a long term deal!

Kickers don't get tenders unless your are a Raider fan.

You do know the Patriots franchised Vinatieri twice, right?

Vinetari won three superbowls for the pats, I don't see him as a kicker. The man is a specialist.
He is a kicker and he didn't win the superbowls. He kicked the final points. That does not mean he won the game. Anyway, in the Houston superbowl the only reason we needed a FG at teh end was because he missed two easy FGs during the game.

His snow bowl 45-yarder was the best kick in NFL history. He was a great kicker in the clutch, but not especially accurate overall.

But he didn't "win" us superbowls. There were other points scored and defensive plays made. Take away Ty Law's pic6 from 2001 and see what the score was.

That man won a superbowl with his leg. This alone should qualify him as a tendered specialist. The Saints kicker Heartly will soon follow in his foot steps.

Oh dear, you haven't heard the news then? Sit down, get your heart pills and oxygen handy...

Pittsburgh and Seattle both franchise tagged their Place Kickers...and it's not the first time this has happened for "kickers" other than Vinatieri and whichever Raider was tagged. Deep breaths, use the oxygen.

Its a sad trend then. Hopefully the kickers will have an even worse year than last so this madness can stop.

We'll see who is right in a few hours. My guess is a second level tender. I certainly want to keep Gostkowski, but I would take a first if it came to that. My gut says that he should receive a top level tender.

TENDER 1 - 1st and a 3rd
------------------------
Gost is the best or almost the best in the league. He is easily worth $3.168M for his 2010 services. And this tender would give us a chance to negotiatate a longer term contract later in the year. If not, he could franchised next year, being paid the average of the top five kickers.

TENDER 2 - 1st
We would do this if we would like to trade Gost for a 1st. While Gost is great, we should be willing to take a first. We would only be paying $2.521M for 2010 and would still hope to sign him long term. And we would still franchise him in 2011 if we couldln't sign him,

TENDER 3 - 2nd
ANo one will offer a second for a kicker, certainly not for Gostkowski. And if someone wanted to give us a 2nd, we would drive him to the airport and be gald to get the second.

TENDER 4 - 4th
---------------------------------------------
After all, Gost is just a middle of the road kicker, and this is a great draft. We'd do better having the 4th round pick.

I predict a second round tender...
