If Moses retires, these may be one-year options.

Should the rules protecting QBs be changed?

  • No. The QB is too vulnerable and valuable. They need all the protection they can get.

  • Yes. The automatic touching of the head penalty takes things too far.

  • Yes. Get rid of the in-the-grasp rule. Last I checked QB was a football position.

  • Yes. Get rid of the rule preventing bodyslams. It hurts no matter what position you play.

A quick poll. Do you like the rules or not?

I've no problem with banning low tackles on a player who is not running with the ball. The mechanics are totally different and QBs are much more vulnerable there. Similarly, it's easier to bodyslam a standing QB than a runner, so a little extra protection there is fine, but let's give the refs some opportunity to exercise judgment whether contact to the head is unnecessary roughness (just like they do elsewhere on the field) and let's get rid of arbitrary rules that make roll-out QBs immune to intentional grounding. As for in-the-grasp, it can be interpreted just like blowing the whistle for forward progress. If the play looks over, except for a little piling on, blow the whistle. Otherwise, let's play some football.
