He’ll be better than Hackenberg, Sanchez, Geno Smith and probably Darnold. So it’s a long-shot but possible he makes the roster.
I doubt he'll be better than Darnold (right away). He has some catching up to do, and I doubt he'll get a chance until Darnold is probably in his 4th season (Brady will be 46 and probably decide to retire).
Darnold is an excellent prospect who flashed some excellent play last year. Now that he has a running game, he should be even better. I hate the Jets too, but don't let your hatred blind the truth. At worst, Darnold will probably be the 2nd best QB in a great QB class. I always felt Darnold had the highest ceiling of the 2018 QB draftees, felt Mayfield was the most NFL ready, and Rosen had the best mechanics.
Watched an interesting thing on YouTube. It's called the Elite 11. They've had this for 20 years now I believe. Watch the one for 2014. They bring in 18 High School QBs, and the 11 best (obviously) make the Elite 11. A lot of famous QBs from the last 2 drafts are in it for 2014. They key on certain QBs, or should I say feature certain QBs, kinda like a reality show.
Rosen who was on the show, not shockingly, was the most uncoachable of the 18. Interesting that some of those traits are still mentioned today. But he was one of the key QBs featured on the show. Though Stidham was mentioned, and you can see him throwing some really nice passes, they don't key on him a lot. BUT he does make the elite 11 along with Rosen, Kyler Murray, Drew Lock, and a few guys who haven't made the NFL yet (still in college, but never became college stars). Really interesting show. Rosen, Murray, Lock and Stidham have been good for many years, obviously they are naturals.
Oddly enough, Darnold did NOT make the Elite 11 in 2014, he was one the 7 cuts. Not saying it means anything, just found it interesting.
