What’s our plan at Wide Receiver?

I know I've mentioned his name on other threads but why not Greg Dortch? He's not an X but he's a way better version of Pop IMO.

Cards just tendered him at 3.3mil

I'd say he's worth 5mil easy.

Pop only counts $1,063,333 against the cap this season. I like Dortch too but I don't believe he's $4 million better than Pop. I'm not even sure he's better than Pop if we're being honest. Pop is younger, cheaper, and has produced more in two seasons in the NFL than Dortch has in five seasons.

What's the basis for Dortch being way better? Production hasn't been way better. It's not like he was a more heralded prospect. If the team really thinks that Douglas is a JAG and Dortch is a hidden gem ready to shine then by all means go ahead, but not sure where anyone would get that projection from. And as marginal improvement/replacement, just not sure the juice is worth the squeeze there when Douglas is one of the few decent, multi year, cheap rookie contract guys we have.

Yeah I don't see it either: but maybe they're trying to be impartial PatsFans...which is hard nice try.

You trade down guys make me laugh. It's all make believe right now so why settle for less. I accept it's a reasonable possibility but I wish for more.

I want the best player at 4 (hopefully Hunter or Carter) and I'm hoping we can also trade up from 38 to somewhere in the 20s for Josh Simmons if he falls that far.

To me that makes way more sense than trading down from 4 just to get an extra day 2 pick.

But I dream big and don't want to just settle for quantity over quality.

Yeah because we got so much quantity over here already amirite

You trade up guys make me laugh. If we take the shiny new toy at 4 and then show our desperation to get back into the mid 20s for Josh Simmons the prospective team will demand a premium.

This year we draft two top players and then have some seventh-rounders to round out the draft. With all the holes on this team? Are you serious?

Let the other guy pay the premium.

Lol pretty sure you can move 10-18 places with out giving up every pick from 38 to round 7. But I guess this is why you guys want to move back so bad because you think people will just give you their entire board like Ditka.

This stuff isn't hard to figure out, to get to 24 it would likely take our 2nd and early 3rd.
24 for 38,69 5% in favor of Minn

A similar trade from 2022
26,101 for 35,69,163 3% in favor.

I guess you could try it with the later of the two 3rds to bring the overpay percentage down, but either way easily doable, especially to a team that I think has 4 picks this year.

Exactly I'll give that up to keep 4 and get a really good LT prospect. If we trade back and settle for Campbell we get neither but sure we'll have a few extra picks.

Sounds like Colts WR Alec Pierce is on the trade block. He had a nice year last: we should have Drafted him instead of Bony Thornton thoughts...

Pierce seems to be used as a low volume deep threat receiver. 824 yds and 7 TD on only 37 rec is impressive. I liked him out of Cincinnati and would’ve preferred him (and even crazy Pickens) over Thornton if the Pats had to take receiver in that spot. If he’s available it’s because the Colts have a crowded WR room and he’s a free agent in 2026. The Colts are wise to try to sell high on him. Pittman, Downs, and Mitchell are the future in that WR room. Think I’d rather see what the draft can bring instead.

If we can get Pierce for a 3rd or 4th why not? He's at least a proven WR2 who can potentially help this team right away. He's also only 24 so he has room to get better and will probably benefit from playing next to Diggs.

That's what I'm saying: Alec Pierce is a proven X-WR.

Buffalo is trying to get him I hope our brass have their ears to the ground.

I love the idea of pierce, especially over trusting our front office to draft anyone outside of hunter. 3rd rounder should get it done?

This is kind of a different FO though: they're some nice X-WR in this Draft that can be added ie...Dont'e Thornton - Jaylin Noel - Jayden Higgins and Arian Smith.
