They unceremoniously dump David Andrews & Lt Joe Cardona, among others, but keep this mother****er? Never understood that one.
Andrews failed a physical, and Cardona was rolling snaps to the holder.

They're better at both positions than they were a year ago.

All-time favorite Bengals player: Ickey Woods

I don't think of Corey Dillon, Anthony Munoz or Cris Collinsworth....IDKY
Ickey Woods shuffle.

Close team: Offensive line coach Doug Marrone is in his 34th season of coaching and 18th in the NFL, and he said the 2025 Patriots might stand alone from any other team he's been a part of in one notable area.

"To me, it's probably one of the closest teams that I've been a part of," he said. "A lot of the credit goes to the players, and also Coach [Vrabel] for how he's been able to bring that together."

Without Chase, they’ll be hard pressed to reach 17 without any turnovers by us…

Dave Andrews was TOAST

Ya

I could see the argument if Andrews went and signed with a team and was playing decent but the guy had a retirement press conference/ceremony at Patriot Place. It's not like he's been waiting for a contender whose needs a Center. He's done playing football. He's already transitioned into doing sports talk, has a weekly hour spot on 98.5 on Zolak's show and has a podcast with Brian Hoyer that also airs on NBC Sports Boston.

So it's just idiotic to knock them for releasing him. If Andrews was healthy he would have had a spot. But Pats physicians couldn't clear him because of his rotator cuff which is why they released him with a failed physical designation

Sorry, meant the Titans. So if you're taking that job, you give up on Ward before even taking it?
If your a coaching candidate in today's game.. you should really be looking at ownership primarily when Choosing a coaching destination..

There is some context to this.

The best defenses they've played on their schedule were 4 of their 5 away games, Denver, Cleveland, Minnesota and Green Bay which are all top 10-12 defenses.

The best defense they have faced at home was the Lions which they scored 24 but the Lions were up 28-3 going into the 4th quarter. Game finished 37-24. So seemed to be typical up 4 scores, vanilla, cushion, yards for time, 4th qtr defense.

Thanks. Great post. Betting on this game is tough because Vrabel is not a run up the score guy. He will play safe to avoid a big play and run out the clock.

Andrews failed his physical. He was done.

The Cardona thing I never understood. J Andrews was released, was picked up by the Texans, and has been a starter for all 10 games in 2025. Dugger was traded and has been a starter. All of Vrable's moves are not easily understood.
Cardona was an age/money thing.
J Andrews is starting because they have no one else, not because he a starter quality C. Ben Brown was a “starter” last year. Duggers starting because every S they have is injured.
It’s easy for me to understand guys not good enough to play on a 9-2 team could play elsewhere. We were elsewhere last year. No one scratched their heads about who let brown, Jacobs, Lowe, Osborne, Taki Taki, Jordan, etc get away

If your a coaching candidate in today's game.. you should really be looking at ownership primarily when Choosing a coaching destination..

A coaching candidate staring down the barrel of working for Miss Amy in TN had best be looking at the contract guarantee and the size of the accompanying money truck. Miss Amy is rapidly closing Jimmy Haslam for 2nd on the owner incompetence index. That's as high as either of them is getting though. Woody Johnson's lead is insurmountable

It became clearer as camp/preseason went on tha Dugger wasn't in the long term plans. While still a serviceable player.. the ankle just comprised him and his effectiveness. Hawkins ans Woodson out played him.. so age, injury and contract easily made Dugger expendable.. Cardona head Scratcher too.. While great veteran players while here in Andrews, Dugger and Bentley.. they all had one thing in common age and injury..

The multi-generational Davis family would like a word. They can't even get a haircut right.

A money thing? The long snapper was making too much money? LOL

J Andrews has been very good, better than Bradbury, over the last 4 games. Andrews is learning and improving since he is 26. Releasing Andrews at 26 to sign Bradbury at 30 was stupid.

The long snapper makes too much money and we want to release 26 year olds to sign 30 year olds???

The Steelers love Dugger. I can see how he was not a style fit in NE at this point, but some of the others, like J Andrews, were a mistake to release.

J Andrews has been improving, outplayed Bradbury over the last 4 games, and is 26 years old (Bradbury is 30). Head scratcher why he was let go. J Andrews is cheap, young, and rising.

I am not sure Dugger is a great fit but go look at the Steelers comments. They love Dugger. Talking about Dugger being their long term starting strong safety.

Steelers play a different defense. Good ****ing lord.

The 2025 Pats OL is much improved. So, is Andrewa really missed? Bradbury has done fine and goes unnoticed which is exactly what you want.

The 2025 Pats D is top tier. Dugger hasn't been missed IMO. I got the impression that Dugger wasn't happy in NE. Vrabel wants to put his stamp on the roster and the results have been excellent.
As others have said:
Andrews was done.
Cardona was a good solider, but replaced with an equally effective, younger, cheaper option. That is excellent management of a roster, period.
Dugger is playing for Pitt our of necessity, and is down their depth chart just like he was here. Again, good solider but when was the last time he made a great play for the Pats?
Peppers confused me, but he looks completely washed. I questioned it at the time, but Vrabs appears to have made the right move, again.
Vrabs and the front office are doing a really good job, how could you see it any other way?
