If he couldn’t be motivated in a SB it’s hard to imagine having to retire a multi millionaire would change that.
Most players are bankrupt within 2 years of leaving the league, IIRC. Cam seemingly likes to spend frivolously (outfits, anyone?), and he likely won't have another chance to earn a massive payday if he doesn't earn one this year. Agents cost money. I'd wager he owns at least one vehicle that is more aptly described as a "performance toy," with a price tag north of 100k. Sports stars rarely make wise fiscal decisions. Hell, folks around here have lauded Gronk being wise with his cash while pointing out exactly what I'm describing.
Didn't Haynesworth get a 100mil contract from the 'Skins at one point? Pretty sure he filed bankruptcy. Seems impossible but it happens all the time.
Cromartie had to get a payday advance from Woody to cover child support, WHILE playing. Granted, he has about 50 kids, but the point stands.
I don't pretend to know Cam's finances. I do know he doesn't appear to show any worry over them, and thats usually the first sign of someone who will spend beyond his means once the checks stop. Hell, I bet he's spent north of 5 figures just for the headware choice on some of those outfits (assuming there isn't some deal cut with the designer, which there's a good chance is the case).
Cam is getting an opportunity to jumpstart his career. If it goes well, it could be amazing for him. If he struggles and butts heads with McDumbass and BB? He'll just be another entry in the long list vets who came to Foxborough to be euthanized by the Hoodie.
