Here is what Brugler had to say:
"Sam Roberts attended Waynesville High and was an All-State and All-Conference defensive lineman as a junior and senior. He was recruited by Division II Northwest Missouri State to play offensive line, but they ran out of scholarship spots and signed him as a defensive lineman instead. After earning all-conference honors three consecutive years and sitting out the 2020 season, he had an All-American senior year and won the 2021 Cliff Harris Award, which is awarded to the top non-Division I defender. Roberts has a hulking build with massive shoulders and a pass rush predicated on power with his heavy hands, forceful rip moves and bully tactics. He has a strong upper half in the run game, but needs to refine his technique to leverage gaps. He blocked five kicks in college (three FGs, two PATs). Overall, Roberts’ core stiffness will be easier to spot vs. NFL blockers, but he fires out of his stance with urgent power to fit in a rotation as a penetrating three-technique."

Size: 6’5″, 295 lbs

Athletic Measurables: 5.14 40 yard dash, 25 reps, 30″ vert

2021 Stats: 13 games, 61 tackles, 18 tackles for loss, 6.5 sacks

Sam Roberts was absolutely unstoppable at the D2 level, and continued his impressive play at the 2022 Hula Bowl.

Despite not having a 2020 season, Roberts totaled 184 tackles, 47 tackles for loss (!!) and 18.5 sacks through 50 career games.

He uses his length to his advantage to dislodge linemen, and has gotten his hand on multiple kicks in special teams defense.

Roberts has a good blend of size, strength, and speed that should translate just fine to the next level.

Imagine if he makes the jump and plays like this in the nfl. Him and Barmore paired up

LFG!!!!!

I’m really worried about the future of Bill Murray on this team now.

The promise of Endless comedy references once he made the team had me delighted.

I HOPE he is able to compete with Godchaux
In this case he will be an awesome pick
Go Sam !!!

“Roberts is the first defensive lineman the Patriots have drafted. According to The Athletic, he was originally supposed to enroll as an offensive lineman, but flipped to defense because the program ran out of scholarships. After redshirting in 2016, he broke out for six sacks in 2018, recorded five the following season and had his 2020 season cancelled because of the COVID-19 pandemic.”

OT Steuber Mich, plays G too
