This is a team that could've had Brady.

Sure…they could. But that’s not what you were arguing. The Chiefs defense is bad and can’t really be blamed on factors like injuries, schedule, etc. I’m sure they’ll tighten up, but they don’t have the players to be a good defense and I don’t even think a decent one.

And last Super Bowl, they arguably couldn’t have won that game even if the offense had done their thing. The Bucs scored 31 despite one goal line stop and then not even attacking midway through the third quarter.

I can't argue with what you said.

Could they improve? Sure.

But Mahomes is going to need to be perfect. And it's a shame that this could be another non SB win due to that atrocious defense.

That defense was pretty bad but led the league in turnovers or top 3 I believe and middle of the pack in PPG allowed, the Chiefs are terrible everywhere on defense. You have a elite offense that'll get you through the season but you'll need the D to improve a lot

But Mahomes is going to need to be perfect. And it's a shame that this could be another non SB win due to that atrocious defense.

The GMs/coach will at some point need to stop placating Mahomes. And I’m not saying Mahomes is a jerk or that he’s making demands, but it’s clear the prerogative is making sure he has the best line and weapons. With his new contract, they’re just paying and paying for minimal ROI. With Kelce and Hill, they didn’t need Watkins at $15M. They didn’t need a knee jerk big time splash with Thuney and Brown. Why spend all that money so an offense that will score 30 ppg might score 32 ppg?

I saw this happen with Manning and Rodgers, too. Even though the offensive players were homegrown, they still paid through the nose. They placated their star QBs sooo much. Defense was always more of an afterthought…biggest problem was they never had money for free agency to bring in some of those middle and middle-upper class defenders. They always relied on optimism for defense while they’d never risk fielding an offense with big holes.
