Week 5 TNF: Buffalo Bills at Cleveland Browns
By: John Morgan

Former Patriot Brian Hoyer goes for his third win in a row since becoming the starting QB in Cleveland as the 2-2 Browns host 2-2 Buffalo on Thursday night football....

This is a much better looking game than it was at the start of season; could be fairly interesting.

I see not as many people are scoffing anymore at the Patriots "barely" beating the Bills in week 1. I'll take the division win no matter how it comes.

wake me up when it's over

Folks may scoff at th Pats wins over the Bills and Jests, but they forget that EVERY frikkin' division game is a dogfight. Doesn't matter how many vets or rookies are on the active roster. There's nothing to hide. There's too much film from playing each other twice a year.

The best way to get to the playoffs is to win your division, and I'll take those wins every single time.

Thursday night games have always been historically boring, and now they scheduled bills and browns.. I'll still probably watch the first quarter to see how it goes.

I'm finally jacked and pumped to watch a Thurs night game. Would be hard to be worse than the turkeys we've had so far.

NFLN is proving that 4 days rest and prep is NOT enough to field a professional product.

Did they consider games on Fridays instead of Thursdays?

I am sure the players would welcome the extra day.

Except that's a huge no-no since that's when high schools have their games.

Also Thursday is considered to be a lot better night for attracting television viewers; far more people are going out Friday night, creating lower ratings.

Saturday would make sense too, but they don't want to bite the hand that feeds them (NCAA) a no-cost minor league training program.

By Thursday the NFL figures fans are jonesing for some more football, so they toss them a bone - even if they know it means they're producing an inferior product.

Actually, I believe the NFL is strictly prohibited from having games on Saturday during the college football season (the Saturday night games only air when there are no regular-season games being played).

You're right, I did not realize that.

While section 1291 of the SBA exempts the NFL and other professional leagues from antitrust attack when pooling their broadcast rights, section 1293 takes away that protection in certain circumstances.vi Section 1293 was designed to protect college football gate receipts from the potentially devastating effects of competing for crowds against televised professional football games.vii

The SBA prevents NFL broadcasts from competing with college football attendance by removing the antitrust exemption granted in section 1291 when the NFL broadcasts games at times when college games are typically played. If the NFL and its broadcast partners were to televise any of the games sold in the pooled packages during the prohibited time frame, they would risk treble damages in the event those pooled packages are held to be in violation of antitrust laws.

Specifically, the antitrust exemption granted in section 1291 does not apply to any professional football game televised (1) between the hours of 6 pm Friday and 12 am Sunday, (2) beginning on the second Friday in September and ending on the second Saturday in December.

Hoyer Game 3, let's go

I don't know....I thought the Pats Jets game was pretty entertaining and it was close

I am SO rooting for the Browns tonight. Go Hoyer! Go Browns!:rocker:

Pass interference rules really need looking at, if anything that should have been called on Johnson not Haden.
