Drake Maye is the perfect QB for McDaniels because he has zero ego. He just wants to improve and win. He really doesn't seem to get bothered or take offense to anything. I know that's where McDaniels ran into trouble elsewhere, he'd rub guys the wrong way. Maye will take any criticism which I'm sure Josh loves to death. Downside to that is that he's not super emotional, so it's harder for him to be that "rah rah" type leader, which probably grates Vrabel a little bit. But he's young, he can grow into that.

All you want to see is improvement each week.
And there was nice improvement in most areas of the team which is good trajectory.

Pass D is suspect for sure (both coverage & pass rushing) - biggest area of improvement needed.
... besides ST - the kicking game (FG and kick-offs) & kick coverage.
I don't know if I agree with pass rush being a big issue. Remember the OL gets paid to do a job as well. I agree that coverage is an issue but that should improve once Gonzo is up to speed, remember though that he missed all of training camp so we may not see a full speed Gonzo for another 2-3 weeks.

I just read the Max Sharping got hurt today and initial reports make it sound significant, so anticipate the IDL being huge in our pass rush against the steelers. I am expecting them to run a quick pass game and several screens to try and tire out the pass rush.

Did Slay play last week?
What about TJ?

Twin: I'm getting very impatient with Pop: 6 measely yards in two games unacceptable for a NFL WR. IF Pop $h!ts the bed this week again: we have to make some sort of change.
I get what you're saying about Pop but McD devises game plans weekly based on opponent, so we will have games that certain WRs don't get as much run.

I think Booty is going to have a couple of big catches over the middle of the field 15+ yards downfield. Pittsburgh seems pretty vulnerable in the middle of the field

If Keion White can't take advantage of all the attention Barmore, Williams and even Landry will be getting then that's on him, regardless of scheme, etc. A multisack game from White would not surprise me this weekend or soon.

I wonder if Pop still isn't where he is supposed to be. TJ O'Sullivan had a great breakdown of Mayes performance and on Bouttes TD he might have ran the wrong route.

When I rewatched the game, I noticed that Pop and his defender were in the area the Booty caught the ball and assumed he was in the wrong spot.

How could you miss any Pats game period? That just doesn't make any sense.

I saw that too and assumed Pop was in the wrong spot. I have the impression that Pop struggles with the route tree and running the play.

Speaking of Mr. Henderson, I think we see quite a bit more of him this week in the passing game. Pittsburgh doesn't really have anyone to account for him, and also I think they'll have some success running the ball in spots (I don't expect consistency like against Miami, but I think it will be pretty good).

Also missed Treyveon wide-ass open for a TD right in front of him, off an angle route. Gotta clean that up.
I don't remember, what did he do on that play? If the angle route is the 3rd read then I get that he might not have got to it. If that is the case then there really isn't anything to clean up.

Like I said I don't remember the play, just throwing out a potential perspective.

Henry had a defender draped on him and Henderson was wide open, directly in front of Maye. It doesn't matter what read it was. Henry was covered.

I was implying if the angle was the 3rd read and he hit an open 1st or 2nd read then that is understandable.

Same. He’s a good athlete and a hard worker but I have the feeling Chism is going to pass him at some point this year simply because he can perform his role in the offense correctly more often.
