In bird culture, it would be considered a douche move to not give him the incentive under these conditions.

Miami is only 0.1 points behind Atlanta they need to hold New England to 22 points or fewer to pass them and get to 20th place (depending on how Atlanta does today). Damn this does make things interesting.

Atl is 20th, ahead of Miami by 1/10th of a point per game.
Atl currently given up 7 pts to NO thru the first half.
Miami needs a hell of a game, or a NO offensive explosion in the 2nd half to catch them.

Well, just to nit pick -- I said I trust Vrabel to make the right decision, and I wouldn't blame him for resting people to avoid injuries in a close game. But I do see your point, it doesn't seem his style. My guess is the game won't be that close and we'll be resting people because Miami will be wanting to go back to their warm Southern climes.
That would be ideal.
Secure the win.
Maye plays enough, and well enough to secure the MVP.
We can rest starters sometime into the 2nd half.

Youu raise another good point -- I hadn't considered the MVP stuff. Also there are lots of incentives coming online today that Vrabel (historically) cares about for his players.

I also wouldn’t blame him if injuries happen, because they are fluky and winning matters.

What is bird culture?

Damn that's 1 show I just stopped watching. Not for any reason in particular but one season probably took awhile to come out and I lost interest

What the hell kinda incentive is that? Lol

"You individually exceeded expectations, but the rest of your teammates were bad, so YOU personally don't get your money"

If Buffalo taps out of their week 18 game again that will be something else.
McDermott: "OK guys so we're gonna intentionally tank hard against the Jets because we're scared of the Jaguars and we want to go play the Patriots instead, who already beat us once, and got up 3 scores on us the second time before we got tons of ref help. Also they were missing Milton Williams and Will Campbell then too, along with other starters, most of those guys will be back for the next one though. Let's definitely tank this game so we can play them instead."

Genius stuff there.

Why pay for hitting incentives that didn’t have meaning?
I think every incentive should be based upon wins, or at least unit success.

Even if they try to tank, is it possible to tank hard enough to lose to the Jets, at home, final game ever at the Ralph?
That all said, they may prefer the devil they know.
Jax is playing very good football.
Do I think they will lose to Jets, no.
Do I think they may prefer to play us, very possible.

I think Jills are 1-done no matter who they play. [edit: unless refs take sides]
…..When you look around the poker table and can’t spot the mark, ……it’s time to walk away. It’s you.

Jets lost their last 4 by a combined 107 points. Worst December in nfl history.

So if they finish as the 6th and go to Jax, you think Jax wins?
Very possible, Jax is playing well and Coen has changed that culture and unlocked that offense.
I would still be hard pressed to pick TLaw over Allen in a playoff game, but it's certainly possible.

IMO the very purpose of incentives is individual performance. Basing it upon team success kinda defeats the point.

I'm in favor of escalators for team success (such as a base value of $1M that escalates to $1.5M if the team achieves a certain ranking, etc), but hinging the entire thing on team output is silly and feels like bad business.
