Things like this reminds you how extraneous football is. Going into tonight this was a huge hand between two of the top teams in the conference for crucial playoff positioning. Now almost everyone couldn’t care less about what this means for the playoffs.

This is just rough to watch

An AED wouldn’t be used if he had a pulse, if I remember right the AED will only shock with no pulse. hopefully the got him back and he just needs O2….
AED means "useless" pulse that does not move blood like ventricular fibrillation or ventricular tachycardia.

Ive heard of that happening with kids playing baseball. kid gets hit in the chest with a baseball and goes into arythmia and dies
Something like that happened in a Massachusetts high school hockey game almost 30 years ago (I won't detail how I remember that incident). There is a (something like) 1/50th of a second moment in a heart beat cycle where if you get hit there, it can be deadly. He got forechecked in the chest. Hard but clean.

The kid got up, skated about 2 steps, then collapsed. This horrifyingly reminds me of that.

We have seen players brought off the field on stretchers and ambulances before. I think they cleared the field tonight because they know something the rest of us don't.

Damn that kid is my boys age. Praying he's ok and survives this.

Ambulance left for the hospital 8 minutes ago

Feels eerily similar to Dale Earnhardts crash at Daytona.

Tough job for the announcer. Booger doing a good of giving a player perspective.

unless they can say he is going to be OK, they should suspend the game.

The biggest concern right now is neurological function even if he now has a pulse. Unfortunately, if he was down for 20 minutes without a pulse, he mostly likely has a massive brain ischemic injury from lack of oxygen going to his brain during the time he was pulseless.

The electrodes to restart the heart.

I had to wear one of those vests for a few weeks after I got out of the hospital in October. Multiple sensors, four "paddles", and a heavy monitoring unit.
