Did a quick All-22 review, mercifully that's the last time I ever need to watch that game. Concentrated on the Offensive Line.

Weakest link was Jacobs, has a few plays in the pass game. Had another bad cut block but was immaterial to the play. Chargers had some good rushers so he played probably how you would expect, held his own often and then had plays he was just destroyed.

Lowe was OK, most plays did well but then he had the hands to the face penalty, got beat on a bull rush, was the one beat on the 3rd down when Maye had Bourne open and was hit, he also missed a run block that stuffed a play. He can hod his own as an adequate pass blocker but always below average as a run blocker.

Strange played pretty well for first time out, he had the bad early snap, but he showed to be nimble and quick and held his own with power as well. Actually, got to the second level and blocked guys, didn't know you could still do that LOL. He does look like the perfect build/skill set for a center, interested to see him going forward.

Onwenu had 2 pass rushes he lost but only 1 that effected a pass play otherwise he was pretty good. Though the 1 play looked like a real slow fat guy on defense was able to get back to Maye, so that was weird to watch.

Robinson-Overall more improvement, Still has moment of getting lost but less than in pre-season for sure. He put more people on the ground than anybody on either teams line. He finished downfield regularly. He does tend to miss when he needs to think on the fly, like letting a backside defender jump into his gape and take the rb while he had nobody to block where he looked. He was fooled on a delayed blitz, decided to help block to his left, already a double team, as soon as LB saw that, ran free up the middle. Robinson never looked back at the LB. So a mixed bag but he's a ton better than he was early in the year. He can pancake some guys. I think if he can slightly improve the pass pro on stunts and blitzes and just smarten up during the play he could be really good. There is hope.

Wallace-Needs some work, only played a couple of series but still pays too high in his pads on pass blocking. He missed a second level block on a run play. ON 1 pass play he kept backing up so the End just ran at him, shoved him with 1 arm, and Wallace fell backwards. He should not have backed up and given the defender that mush space and he was too high and no balanced properly so was easily shoved backwards. Same issues in pre-season. He needs an off-season to work on things. Jacobs looked better in the game, sad to say but Robinson was terrible before and not bad now so hope for Wallace but not a great showing.

Gibson and Rahm both missed a blitz block.

Maye was not as off as I thought watching live but he had a couple inaccurate throws he hasn't missed this year, without a ton of pressure on those. I think he was trying to run a little too often, not from fear of the line but whenever he had man and saw a possible escape he would go. A couple plays he was better to stay in, I think a combo of trying to make a play himself with his legs and also the defense. Chargers were rushing 5 regularly, sometimes 6, the 5 would change which 5 came. They did not rush 4 regularly. They basically said we are going to pressure with 5 or 6, try to get guys open quicker than we get to the QB. The line did struggle at certain times on blitzes, Maye struggled recognizing a couple of the blitzes. It is a good defense with smart coaching. Maye played a C game. I think the biggest issue is they'd send 5, play man, nobody gets open, he sees a lane and figures I can run, the DB's have theeir back to him and just needed to excape line. When it worked it was good, a couple times he couldn't get passed the line and did not work.

Hebert was a technician, but mainly because he had all day to throw. The plays he had pressure or receivers did not get separation despite no pressure he might have been 0 for 10 on those plays. Those plays rarely came back-to-back so did not matter, he'd just complete the next one. The difference in pressure was glaring but the Chargers regularly sent 5 or 6 to make the Pats get out quick. Pats rushed 4 a lot but even when they sent 5 they rarely got home.

Overall, we need a RT and a LT, the interior might be OK if Robinson keeps improving and Strange builds off this game. They could upgrade Robinson in FA but with all the other holes, they can probably live with him there next year if he keeps getting better and spend money elsewhere. I'm not counting on Wallace to play RT, so far he can't do it, I wouldn't want to go into next year hoping he makes the leap.

We need that 1 WR that can separate and make the contested catches.

RT, LT, #1 WR are the 3 areas of most need.
Not that you can't upgrade elsewhere but with all the needs on defense as well I think that's the Offense priority and on defense it's a edge pass rush and linebacker (maybe Bentley comes back and fills that?)

All of Wallaces Plays are at the link below, at 10 seconds is play he gets destroyed, at 48 second is the play he body slams the DB (per photos)

I skipped to see what you said about Strange. It jived with what I saw live he seemed to be decent especially given his first action in almost a year.

Hopefully Andrews comes back and Strange and Andrews can compete in camp for the spot. Might not be ideal but we have so many holes that any position that we can have a plan for that doesn't include draft or free agency will only help free up resources for other areas.

Thanks a million. Your effort is greatly appreciated. Any comment on why Wallace did not start?

The body slam is hilarious. I don't think Wallace looks bad, a little stiff but a lot of OL are a little stiff. Looks like he is still a bit lost, but that is to be expected. Maybe Wallace is OK at RT with a bit of work?

I think we still need to sign a LT is FA, Alaric Jackson, and then draft another RT at the end of R1 or beginning of R2. Hopefully Wallace and Robinson get better in Y2 (the game slows down for them) and that kind of saves the 2024 draft with Maye, Wallace, and Robinson. WE need an offensive coordinator and a OL coach desperately.

Thanks again. To me Strange looks like a center. He seems to hike the ball effortlessly, and immediately is in his stance or moving. The whole process looks seamless for Strange, and he will only get better. At LG sometimes Strange looked great, and other times he looked out of place. Robinson looks like a big strong dude with long arms, Robinson looks like a LG - I know why the scouts liked him. I assume the game will slow down for Robinson in Y2.

We do not need All Pros, we need above average interior OL play and I hope Robinson, Strange, and Onwenu can provide that. Robinson and Strange will be much better in 2025 after an offseason and camp in their new positions. Let's hope Onwenu does not show up to camp again 80 lbs. overweight. D Andrews, J Andrews, and Sow provide great interior line competition in camp.

With Wallace ankle not clear if 100% healthy but with Mayo, who knows. Said Gibson was starting and then didn’t.

Could be Chargers have good edge rushers and tough putting him in his first start against Bosa level rusher.

do you keep strange at center and cut david andrews loose?

1 game is too hard to say tho was promising. His health history isn’t great either.
It’s 3.5 million in extra cap space which is probably very minor help but they can resign Ben Brown to backup for cheaper?
Probably worth keeping Andrew’s for a year as a mentor and as a backup but probably irrelevant whether he comes back or not.
He might be a valuable locker room type?

Lowe was ok…especially as a pass blocker. I think he will be average next year and i’m fine with being the only person on planet Earth that thinks that’s good enough with Robinson-Strange-Onwenu-Wallace. I think the real issue is if Lowe or Wallace get hurt…it’s all terrible options at backup. IMO the draft should focus on getting an OT or 2 to battle for a starting position or swing tackle. They don’t have to start…just be better than Jacobs or anyone else we had or have.

Keep up the good work!

His run blocking is just too poor for a starter, otherwise as a PB I think he could get by. Upgrades available in FA I think.

Cash needs to be burned Day 1 of FA on a starting quality LT and someone capable of functioning as a WR1. They need to set things up to accumulate talent in the draft but not ruin yet another season for their promising young QB running for his life and playing injured because they can't block for him and no one gets enough separation for him. Assuming Wolf is smart enough to work the draft trades, they can add three or four guys that have more talent than anyone they have on the roster other than Maye and Gonzalez (and possibly Barmore).

Based on history I don't expect a LT FA to be available that is better than Cam Robinson, I hope for better but that's the level I expect. I hate to see them blow money overpaying a mediocre player but I sure as hell hate seeing the future get destroyed by leaving it to a JAG like Lowe. I don't expect Stanley or Jackson to hit the market, they'd be my choice over anyone else, but I'd be fine with Robinson or Wills

I expect Higgins to be available and while he's not a sure thing as a WR1 he is miles ahead of the guys they have on the roster this year. I'd be fine with Cooper or Godwin, Elijah Moore; I'd say Diggs but he's a loon so no thanks.

I'd hope they bring in a Sweat or Reddick to improve their currently non-existing pass rush, and I like the idea of Nick Bolton at LB. he's a playmaker and its always a plus to **** with KC.

You know something, sitting there yesterday in lousy weather knowing they had no chance in the game and thinking that I blew a whole bunch of my own money to do so, it made me just that much less concerned about what they would have to do to overcome a couple of lousy contracts if that's the way it works out.

Agree completely, I have been very surprised in Owenu's poor run blocking. I know people are saying that Robinson-Strange-Owenu should be good , but I would love to see competition brought in for every spot.

I strongly AGREE.

You are probably the only person on planet Earth who believes that having Lowe and Wallace as our starters is anywhere near enough

Cam Robinson would be a very welcome starter at LT.

So we used a 1st round pick on a center? Oof. At least I'm glad we finally found a position Strange can play.

This draft we need WR1 and LT. We can probably double dip at tackles and the guy who doesn't win the starting LT spot can play RT or swing tackle.

I'm just wondering what kind of trade package we can get for the #1 overall, it better be good because we need the additional picks!

We can try to get WR1 and LT in FA.

The QBs are not great this year, so I am not sure the draft trade for #1 will be that good.

One of the reasons I feel this way is because of Hunter/Higgins/Deebo. The OL won’t be as much as an issue when Maye is throwing to one or 2 of them.

Let's hope 2 of them.

FWIW, picking a center in the first round isn’t that unusual, and IOLs are picked in the first round most years. Tyler Linderbaum was the 25th pick in 2022, 4 picks before Strange. Also picked in thst first round were OGs Kenyon Green (15), Zion Johnson (17j, and Tyler Smith (24). In 2023 OG Skowronski went #11, this year OG Fautanu went #20 and C Barton went #26.

With that said I would hate to see the Pats use a top 5 or even top 15 pick on an OG or C, even a guy I like a lot (Campbell or Banks, if as rumored their arm length is substandard), when they are so devoid of talent in so many places. I’d use that pick only on a guy who is a cinch to be a plug and play at LT (e.g., Paris Johnson or Joe Alt), otherwise give me a guy who can demand double coverage as a WR1, or who must be double teamed as a pass rusher, or who needs to be avoided as a CB.

I’m 100% on the trade down train, I’d do it twice if possible to stack up talent in the next two drafts. My only fear then is the ability of The Sons to make the right acquisitions and The CEO Coach to make smart decisions.

The OL is not just for Maye, we need to have a competent running game and right now the OL cannot run block very well.
