PostGame Thread Week 12 PostGame Thread: NE Loses 10-7 to NYG

There’s no way this team wins 5 games, 4 is also a stretch given how pathetic our O and ST are.

Realistically we either lay a goose egg for the rest of the season or maybe pull 1 game out of our @ss and end up with 3 wins.

We’ll be picking in the top 3…

We will beat NY Jets. Also could see us beating Pittsburgh and hear me out. That offense isn’t good and our defense is pretty good. I could see us winning that one like 9-7 lol. Steelers struggle to put up points too.

3-14 with 4-13 being our best record possible this season imo.

Unfortunately, it seems that Jerod Mayo is going to be the guy. Nothing against him. He may end up being a great head coach. My problem is he is defensive minded and may just be a continuation of Belichick and his philosophies on how a team should be made up. And I think I would rather have a great offensive mind who realizes that top end talent is far more important than in the past and one of the most talented players at their position on your team shouldn't be the gunner.

At worst, I could see him staying and becoming the DC if another candidate is hired. He passed up HC interview to return to the Pats so it would really suck for him if he was let go.

The defense or offensive line did not suck today. If we had just run the ball, we would have won.

The offensive line gave up quite a few pressures and the defense was playing the new york freaking giants. Could they have played worse and gave up more than 10 pts while the offense gave up 3 turnovers? Sure. Did the D get its fair share of sacks? Sure. Did the defense light the world on fire against a weak ass team in the rain? Nope. A good defense would’ve mopped the field today. The entire team sucks.

Are you open to the possibility that the top two OT will have better careers than either of the two QBs ? I’d almost put money on Fashano / Alt having a better career that either Williams or Maye.

History shows that it’s actually improbable both Maye and Williams will both be successful NFL QBs.

I’d love to see Harrison here. I’d rather two years of a cousins type while NE stockpiles talent and then get a QB in the draft.

A friend and I have this conversation every year. Every draft he will list the top 3 or 4 in the draft and their potential and I always say at best there will be 1 good QB.

Drafts usually have 1 good QB at best. Once every few years you will get a great one. Once in a blue moon you will get 2 good ones. I find it hilarious how every year the experts list the 4 or 5 first rounder QBs.

That said I want QB with first pick lol. A team is going nowhere without one.

The Pats babied Mac for Y1. You didn't notice? Josh and Bill changed the whole offense, short passes, "check down Mac". That was to help Mac slowly transition to NFL speed. For the last few games of Y1 and in Y2, the Pats asked Mac to start looking for his 2nd and 3rd reciever, including throwing the ball down field. That is how young QBs are slowly brought along. Mac is like Chuck Knoblauch. After today it is obvous. It is not on anyone other than Mac. Today after Mac overthrew Gesicki twice, he was blaming and motioning from the field at Gesicki. Who does that? Not a team player. Mac is a bust. It has nothing to do with BB or JM or BOB. They have tried everything. Mac is a head case.

I don’t even hate the idea of Mayo, BUT he was a linebacker and defensive guy, we sorely need offensive talent in coaching and players.

SF loaded up everywhere. And then, got a competent QB with the lady pick after a few years with a vet. That’s the model I’d want for NE.

Jets maybe. Steelers posted 421 yards of offense and 22 first down vs Bengals today. They are a team on the rise that knows how to win.

It doesn’t change the fact that what we’re watching sucks though does it? They have plenty of excuses that can be made as to why it sucks. Many of them like you just pointed out that are valid. They still suck. No clutch.

I would be on board with him as DC. I just worry that if he becomes the head coach, the Pats will be searching for another head coach in 4-5 years. He is just may not be the right coach for this team at this time.

But hey, maybe he will surprise me and he will be more willing to find a great offensive mind to partner with as the OC and the Pats get a GM who does focus on top tier talent and can draft well.

If the JETES get Rodgers back at 50% then we won’t win that game. The Chargers and Steelers could be winnable games if we didn’t have 2 s playing QB.

As I've said before, the details matter a ton. If the choices are, say, Harrison at 3 vs. Alt/Fashanu at 6 and a 2025 first, I'd be OK with either.

What if we trade down to the Teens get what’s available and have 3 firsts in 2025 and try to get a QB I’m 2025 with possible 2 more impact 1st round players?
