Brown had a great game as our starting LG. We have 6 OL's that we can count on as starters. Maybe Bryant is a 7th.

Our Game Day backup for LG. RG and C was one Practice Squad elevation.

Apparently, Wallace is on the 53 as a future prospect that Vrabel thinks wouldn't make the Practice Squad. If he was in any way ready, he'd have been active today.

It seems very right to activate Jaimes to the 53-man roster and have him active when there is an injury at G or C. If he doesn't work out, Vrabel can waive him and find someone else. We do have an open roster spot. Jaimes is a veteran (2021 5th rounder) with experience at both C and OG.

I'm not pretending it's great but I'm not as worried about the depth just because the starting 5 seems good enough to keep rolling even if one is out like today.

Agreed.

Where is your guarantee that Wilson will be back next week and that no one else will be have a minor injury?

By Friday, Wilson was out and Onwenu was questionable, so this isn't a very hypothetical question. Onwenu could easily have been out or available for only part of the game.

As an aside, CLEARLY has no better current use for the roster spot. If he needs it in the future, he can waive the OG/C signed.

The team is short in depth in a few places.

That's how it goes when you have had recent bad drafts.

Another off season like this one and we'll be on track.

Tavai can be activated after Tuesday.

Could also elevate G Jack Conley...

at least this year we have viable options...

Is that a dig at James Ferentz?
no. i liked ferentz... all he ever did was show up and play the best he could... was never going to be a pro bowl level player... he was a swing ol-man... he never deserved all the scorn that was heaped on him

I feel like Lowe almost has to be getting practice reps at guard right now. It’s not common to have two interior linemen get hurt in the same game, but it’s common enough that you need a second gameday backup who at least knows how to play the position. I assume Lowe makes more sense than adding more to the rookies’ plates or having Moses spend his often-limited practice time there.

So basically, I have zero evidence except that none of the alternatives make sense either.

Is this a short-term question, that the Patriots should sign somebody this week?

If so, what are the suggestions of available free agents, other team's practice squad players, or a realistic trade?

Who is an available upgrade over Jack Conley or Royce Newman?

Another IOL next year?

Yes, multiple, absolutely.

But for next week?

Not going to happen, other than what's already in Foxboro.

I’m still pissed they didn’t claim Lampkin when he was released.

who is available as a backup G/C in case of injuries?

Brenden Jaimes

I'd be worried about having a 4th C/G if Wilson was placed on IR.

Right now, they have Brendan Jaimes who has league experience a a C/G
They also have Royce Freeman who has experience as a G/OT.

Who would you sign to the PS and who would you release?

I wish we’d have kept michael Jordan tbh. Both him and brown did well for a few games last year, they just weren’t full time starters and played too much. Brown is younger so he may become one but i think Jordan is quality depth.

while nothing is certain, WIlson was at practice towards the end of last week and listed as limited. doesn't appear that he will be IR'd.
Brown and Wallace also offer versatility.
James was versatile at Nebraska. in time he could be the next OL to work his way onto the roster like Brown did

I immediately thought it was a bad look for Wallace when they activated a PS player and Wallace was inactive. I'm not aware of any injury issue.

With the team a couple of days, starts at RG, and plays far better than any of the other options the Phish had.

A gift to them. And Caedan Wallace is NOT better than Strange.

That seems more a commentary on the options the Phish had in their OL depth than it does saying anything about Cole.

But the decision to release Strange was also probably a mistake. He went from starting LG to third string center in like a week. Never understood that.
