Here is the 'logic' being used;

Crygate - Team films coaches from the wrong place after the new Commish, a former employee of the offended team, changes the emphasis of the rule in 2007. The team goes on to lose in the SB that year but their SB wins before the change are tainted, and people are still crying about it 7 years later.

Bountygate - Team successfully uses a bounty system to try and hurt key players on opposing teams, resulting in injuries to opposing players and a SB win that season. No need to even mention the violation again and everyone can applaud the greatness of Drew Brees and the Saints.

And nobody even talks about how the Broncos cheated the salary cap to keep Elway and Davis to win two Superbowls in the late 90s. That was flat out fraud, but you know.. lets keep on talking about technicalities of video taping..

Much of journalism has degenerated into reactionary pieces such as this, where facts take a back seat to sensationalism and appealing to a "watching a train wreck" crowd, so instead of developing a new and different POV they rely on a tried and true one, even if it is incorrect.

I just started working in Baltimore when spyhype came out. I knew lack of WRs hurt us in 06 from trophy#4. When I saw how moss Brady and wes were clicking I made several substantial bets the patriots would go 16-0. Naturally many peeps jumped on that bet. People were coming up to me at work and friends asking if they could get in on the bet. I figured 19-0 after getting caught taping signals would shut everybody up about SpyHype. After I won, many peeps asked me double or nothing for 19-0. I refused the offers except my GFs dad because I noticed the older players on defense wearing down and some weaknesses on the OLine when they couldn't double all the better DLineman. I felt they would win the championship trophy and shut everybody up but wasn't sure enough to bet on it with the probe on defense and OLine and the giants were the team I didn't wanna play because of the multiple rushers.

Anyways I knew from the jump that SpyHype would haunt the team til they won a Superbowl maybe2! Its why I'm frustrated with Bills drafting at times like when he traded away picks that became Clay Matthews then Dez Bryant. Then missed out on Geno Atkins and Navorro Bowman. Then missing out on at least a dominant edge rusher in 2011 like JJ watt or Quinn, to be honest I liked Quinn better than Watt but Quinn would be awesome to in our defense.

But thing is its freedom of speech out there and people aren't going to shut up til they are shut up. We can argue all we want with idiots all we want about SpyHype but it does hurt our respect and joy of those superbowls because they have a reason and excuse to not credit the patriots for winning 3 Superbowl trophies. What makes those trophies fun and proud is they mean the patriots were the best those years. Can show pics of those trophies and say it means the patriots are better than your team, better than EVERY team out there. SpyHype has given people a way to question our team being the best and not respect them from being the best. Part of the fun of a championship is the respect that comes with them. I'm a very sore loser as it is and always have been. Losing in the playoffs and our offense stalling makes losing worse because every playoff loss hurts the respect and credibility people should give us for championships because it gives them a reason to say you havnt won since getting caught cheating and people do believe it. People will not shut up about SpyHype til we win another Superbowl. Its why I think bill should do the so called go all in and correct weaknesses that can cause the patriots to lose in the playoffs. A Superbowl win validates everything and SpyHype will become some stupid old media story as it should be. Bill needs to take advantage of having Brady and pull a trade for a dominant online player or either an established WR still at his prime for most part or promising young talent. My opinion is insert Cameron Fleming to be the athletic powerful right guard to form a strong athletic guard tandem then trade for an established or promising WR like Denarius Moore or Andre johnson. However Bill needs to be willing to trade the higher picks instead of playing games and worrying bout who he may get. Or worrying bout players that may help him in several years. He needs to realize Brady gives him his his best and most sure shot at Superbowl trophy #4. He needs to realize proving he can win a championship without taping signals is more important than proving he can win a championship without the best QB ever, Far more important. Not winning one after Spyhype will draw far more criticism. Open up his system a little so he can use a dez Bryant or Julio Jones and be less conservative, he can waste more $$ being cheap and conservative wasting $ on losers like Lafail, arrington who are total wastes of cap space. Couple $ million more could have got him Emmanuel sanders and or Dom Rodgers Cromartie. Draft and take time to coach up raw talents like Lavonte David instead of partially coached up players like Hightower and Rutgers although I love Logan Ryan and he was a steal. Yep we could have had a pro bowl center or Emanuel Sanders or DRC. Stop worrying bout Drafting a dozen backup QBs and support the great qb he has. Take advantage of having Brady and win now when you have the luxury of a great qb and know for sure you have a great great shot with him. Just win the trophy asap and shut everybody up over SpyHype, nobody can run their mouth about spyhype after you hold up the trophy without it. A championship trophy and SpyHype becomes irrelevant

You make some excellent points. However, with the vast majority of people who believe the no SB since SG BS, 5 straight SB victories will not change their minds. I remember in 2011 when NE was on a roll, there were multiple national stories with the Are the Patriots Cheating Again? theme. There will never be vindication from the SG stigma with those who believed the BS in the first place. I fervently wish that weren't the case, but I'm convinced it is.
