We have the makings of a historic defense

If Seau had played vs Indy, the Pats would have won that game, IMHO. The backup LBs were exposed in that game and Indy did a great job exploiting the Pats lack of depth. With Rodney, Thomas, and hopefully Samuel on the field at the same time, BB can get back to his diabolical scheming that hasn't been seen for a couple of years now. Throw in Meriweather as the hybrid cb/s and BB has alot of playmaking tools to attack instead of react. I will be interested to see how BB uses both Bruschi and Seau. Last year Junior did a great job taking on the run while Teddy's playmaking lacked big time. I expect a huge number of picks considering all the 3rd and longs the opposition will face. Assante would be a fool not to play 16 games under such favorable conditions

I thikn the Pats D impressed Fisher.....

I think it was the weather, the surface, people in his face. The approach the Patriots took defensively, which was a unique approach," Fisher said Saturday.

"They brought people almost every down from different places. They dropped different people out in coverage.
We went in this game with a very basic game plan and did not put ourselves in position to try to take advantage of those things."

I read this the exact opposite. It sounds more like "They were really trying but we weren't" to me.

What Fisher doesn't realize or acknowledge is that is our base defense...

I think it's possible Fisher is implying that, generally, teams use more of a vanilla scheme in pre-season, and that they struggled a bit b/c, outside of the norm, BB actually mixed it up a bit.
