He made it public that he wanted to stay in Arizona, which lessened his value. However, given the contracts going to players like Canty and Haynesworth, Warner's contract is below market value.

I would take Canty instantly over Warner if I was Arizona, and I'd plug Jeff Garcia into Warner's spot, and I'd have a decent defender.

It's your opinion that someone was otherwise willing to pay him more than $12 million.

Warner is a pretty good QB and has proven so over the course of his career.

One could argue that he isn't worth 12 mil, but then again, one could argue that we got raped by getting only a 2nd rnd pick for Cassel and Vrabel.

It's all about perspective. He's worth 12 mil to the Cards at this time.

Given a stable a good WRs, a decent line, and a servicable RB... Warner is still a formidable QB. I personally wouldn't want him as the QB of my team, but one man's trash is another man's treasure.

I think you are under valueing him based on a few bad years where he couldn't seem to overcome the issue with his thumb and getting a good grip on the ball. The glove has seemed to turn that around and he had a great season last year.

His leverage was so poor that he and his agent kept making opposing statements because the agent was trying to undo the damage Warner was causing to the bargaining position, and the agent had to get Warner to take a trip to San Francisco.

Not at all. He didn't want to move his family so all he needs to do is retire or threaten retirement. The Cards would be screwed. Plenty of leverage.

Warner's not worth 12 mil after taking them to their only SB but Cassel gets 14.5 mil after only started one season. Go figure.
