Why weren't they playing last week then?

LT was standing on the sidelines and looked fine.

It was the last game of the damn year. 90 times out of 100 they lose that game. They got lucky to beat the Colts. How the hell can those 2 stand on the sidelines in a playoff game when they are losing in the 4th quarter? You have all offseason to rehab your "injuries"

And where the hell does LT get off giving Phillip Rivers crap on the sideline for not coming back in? LT didn't even attempt to play, didn't look like he even wanted to play or cared. At one point in the 4th quarter he was smiling and laughing.

There is no reason those 2 shouldn't have been out there this last game. And the news of these injuries proves this. Take a shot, do whatever you have to do and go play.
You gotta be kidding me.

Without question, Keegs, Tony Dungy is at fault for this.

Couldn't agree more. The last 10 minutes of the Colts game looked likely to be the last 10 minutes of the Chargers season. As such their best players should have been on the field. Can you imagine a Farve or a Brady wtching from the sidelines...if all you can do is hobble about then you hobble about in the pocket and make some plays. I don't see how Rivers in particular can go from being unable to take the field for the Chargers biggest drive of the season to being a possible for the Pats game.

I just posted this in another thread. Proves they are not gamers. I cannot imagine Brady or Moss or ANYBODY on this team not killing themselves to get back out there. Laughing on the sideline? Unimaginable.

Hell, the Colts couldn't have seemed less interested in that game and Addai came back in after a head injury and I swear Sanders left part of his shoulder on the field and came back on.

He's definitely at fault (along with Manning) for all the Colts playoff collapses.

i like your thinking....

excellent point.

I went to hating the Colts more than anything to hating the Chargers more than anything and really respecting the crap out of the Colts players. (i hate the Colts 2nd)

I am not going to lose sleep if Rivers plays. He's not a huge step up over Volek, and there's more film on Rivers for BB to study.

LT is a different story. Definitely a huge downgrade from LT at 100% to Turner/Sproles.

Here's how I sort it out:

I totally respect the Colts players. I don't even hate what's-his-name, their quarterback. But I loathe, loathe, loathe Dungy and Polian.

On the Chargers, it's the actual players I want to slap silly for being spoiled, whiny, selfish, rude and generally poorly brought up. Shame on their parents.

Couldn't agree more. I had a thread about this last week. Course the Chargers fans stole the thread and put it on their board and decided that I weigh 300 lbs and have 2 teeth because I think someone needs to kick the crap out of those fools.

LT was quoted as saying he wasn't sure what exactly was wrong with his knee so without knowing he didn't want to risk further damage and possibly put his career in jeopardy. That comment caught me off guard too. first thing I thought was that he cares more about preserving his future as an elite back then he does helping his team win a playoff game.

I hate them all.

But seeing LT standing there on the sidelines with that stupid look on his face just cemented for me once and for all what a little whiny biatch he is.

He can't come back in because he has a bruised knee? He has a boo boo.

Gimme a friggin break. At least Rivers kinda had an excuse, he had problems with his knee beforehand and you could see where he came down funny on it. I don't know how LT gives him crap when he is standing on the sidelines himself.

Here's what I think. I think there is something else wrong with Classy the RB. Took him a quarter of the season to get it in gear, and then he faded down the stretch. In their playoff game against Tennessee, he was out once he got that 6 second second effort TD. And his yards all came late after the Tennessee got worn out and mentally abused watching Vince Donothing piss a W away.

I think Rivers not coming back in was Norv's decision. Which is really interesting considering the horrendous first series Volek had. That was when Classy approached Classless hysterically, I think to ask him whose f'in brilliant idea it was to stick with Volek. And I think they both then looked disgusted 'cause the answer was Norv. Had they lost, the dynamic duo would have thrown him under the bus in unison, like real teamates. Of course, when the Colts couldn't stop a sneeze or catch a cold, and it all worked out, all was forgiven.

But that leaves the question, WTF was Norv thinking? Either Rivers and LdT's injuries are more serious than they intend to acknowledge (would Classy lie and deceive...) or deep down inside Norv doesn't trust them to remain composed or execute under pressure and in adversity the way he does the backups (and Gates...).

I'd just as soon see Turner and Sproles riding the pine Sunday. Volek too. It's easier to knock the other two off their game and watch them unravel.

I heard that if Phillip Rivers were to come back in the game that he could possibly endure shin splints of Biblical proportion?!?

Can anyone verify?

Our best defense: have fans behind the San Diego bench shout epithets at Rivers and tease the child unmercifully. He will lose focus and go bonkers (a/k/a Ryan Leaf Syndrome).

Perhaps. According to biblical texts, Noah suffered legendarily bad shin splints when he built the ark and then herded creatures in from all over the planet.

Rivers has a MCL tear, no?

Just remember, Brady came out of our AFCCG against Pitt.

I think LT is at fault a lot more than Rivers. You can't send your QB out there with an injury like that.

LT should have realized that he was ok.

I think the difference is Brady wasn't laughing and screwing around on the sideline.

I was astounded when I read this as well, I wonder how many media people will ask LdT to expound on his decision to worry about himself over the team, word had it he was cleared to play by the medical staff, but HE decided not to play.

You inspired me to look to scripture for more guidance on Rivers and leg injuries. Discuss:

Isaiah 47:1-6
Remove your veil, strip off the skirt, Uncover the leg, cross the Rivers.

Damn, that sounds downright erotic! It would seem appropriate if he had a gal pal like Romo's or Brady's. Does Rivers have a girlfriend? Is he old enough to date?

I think he's married with 3 or 4 kids. Fine example he is.
