Vereen to miss at least 8 weeks

Question: since he hurt his wrist on the first play and continued to play as well as he did...couldn't we wait until after the jets game for surgery? Since we may not have Danny or sudfeld this Thursday?

After the amazing regular seasons and disappointing offseasons we've had recently I don't even care that much about our injury status until after thanksgiving....ditto with how dominating our wins are...it's all about momentum, just make it to playoffs, homefield and 1st round bye don't even count for all that much anymore

But man do I feel bad for Brady...

Next man up, and the rookies better start earning their keep

They should have put him on the PUP.

Looks like you don't understand the rules. Also, he is essentially out as long as he would be if he were on the PUP.

Why? He was healthy during training camp and pre-season.

That sucks. Let's hope Washington still has something in the tank then.

I saw Leon Washington trying to Block in the Preseason and he looked atrocious, Brady as great as he is has to feel uneasy at this very moment. I hope Brandon Bolden develop that aspect of his game, because Riddley cannot catch a cold. As much as I liked Shane Vereen, letting Woodhead go was kinda puzzling.

It's a damn shame but every team has injury issues to deal with and the Patriots are just going to have to find ways to deal with their injury losses. More and more it is looking like they are going to have to rely upon their defense in a way they haven't in almost 10 years. Go D. ( I actually believe their defense is up to the challenge. We'll see?)

I was going to say something like that, but if you look at who's already been injured this offseason for other teams. . . .

I was going for the gratuitous pun

Though I'll say, one year, just for one year, I'd love to have luck like the 49ers had last year. On the general point I'd agree, though, that lots of other teams have had it worse than us so far.

I miss Woodhead now. The Football Gods hate us for some reason.

Vereen rush for 100 yards + 60 yds receiving.. with a broken wrist.

Pats choose to go with the superior player.

You guys forget how many injuries we had in 2004 . . .

What you are comparing our Dept in 2004 to our 0 dept in 2013? I plead no contest!

Re: Veeren to IR, designated to return

Patriots put Shane Vereen on short-term IR | ProFootballTalk

As it turns out, Patriots running back Shane Vereen is going to miss more than a few weeks.

The team announced Vereen was placed on injured reserve/designated for return, which will mean at least an eight week absence.

Vereen broke a small bone in his wrist on his first play of Sunday’s win over the Bills, but still had 159 yards from scrimmage, including 101 rushing yards.

Now they might have to turn back to Stevan Ridley, who was benched in favor of Vereen after a second-quarter fumble.

To take Vereen’s roster spot, they brought back tight end Matthew Mulligan, who spent two days on their roster last week. The former Jets and Rams tight end was in camp with the Packers this summer.

Re: Veeren to IR, designated to return

This team is getting worse by the hour.

Re: Veeren to IR, designated to return

and this is after week 1.

Wow........

Damnit we actually did re-sign Mulligan. Damn damn damn.

That obviously hurts, but at least it appears he will be back at some point this season. Right now though we really need Gronk and/or DA to be back in approx 3 weeks for that ATL game and I think we can survive these early bumps. Defense needs to stay healthy too because they may need to be very good until those 2 get back.

Yes who can forget all that great depth. Guys like Earthwind Moreland, Troy Brown and that other guy that all played DB for us.

Re: Veeren to IR, designated to return

We're making Mulligan Team Captain for thursday right?
