I think he's a top-3 defensive player on this team, with himself, Gilmore, and Bennett being those top-3.

Heck, he may even end up being their best defensive player at the end of the season.

Well, they DID add beef. But he either sucked, wasn’t a fit in the system, ended up in BB’s dog house, or some combination of the three. I agree with you, though, that the run defense is going to have to improve dramatically. Hopefully what we saw in the playoffs was more of how the Pats improved as opposed to who they were playing (two starting RBs injured, one suspended).

He just didm't play well and this is confirmed by the fact that he hasn't been resigned anywhere else to my knowledge. Which now makes him a possible option if injuries hit that position early.

I think losing Clayborn and Trey Flowers were huge losses. Also Chung was elite at SS and has those legal issues. The defense looks promising but there are question marks.

Any player who is not active for a game or games can't be too huge of a loss.

I do not like when the Pats are exposed as some kind of a leader - this time in defence before the first play. However I would lie if I said I do not believe our defence can be number one in the league.
