I'm guessing that Urlacher expected Brady to slide and when he didn't it surprised everyone.
That's what it looked like. I think it's the kind of play you get away with maybe once a career. Urlacher probably had a split second of hesitation, and that's all it took.
Remember that later in the drive, Brady converted on another third down -- he rushed up the middle, fumbled, and then got his own fumble. They got the touchdown on the next play, or just thereafter.
That was a bizzare game. The Patriots got the lead there by 7, and the Bears promptly moved it all the way down the field to the red zone, but decided to kick a field goal instead of go for it on 4th down, down by 7, with about 3 or 4 minutes left. Patriots' offense basically drove down the other way for the win, but Dillon fumbled when they were trying to run out the clock. Bears couldn't score, though. I think Grossman threw a pick.
