NFL 2009 Playoff Race - CBSSports.com

This blog illustrates the up to the week seeding of all potentially seeded NFL clubs. You can mouse over any team to see its remaining schedule. Or go to Scenarios to see the what-if potentials for the coming weekend...For example Indy and New Orleans can clinch their divisions thru Monday night (gack!)

Enjoy!

(thanks to Miguel)

Nice find wicked, thanks for taking the time to post this............it's very much appreciated.

I think Denver has a decent shot of still winning the AFC West.

Still only week 12 though....... yes, it's starting to gel, but all sorts of things can still happen.... sigh.....

I need another glass of bourbon. Lord I hope I can just make it through to Monday Night...

Can I just say that if the Pats don't get the number 2 seed, I would LOOOOOOVE the playoff seedings to look just like this.

- Take down Denver at home in the wildcard round
- Wipe out "1-n-done" Indy in the divisional round
- Eliminate whoever is left in the AFCC game (even at SD)

My ideal situation would be getting the #2 seed with Indy #1 and Denver #3 and the Giants making the Super Bowl. That would make this playoff run include each of Brady's 3 playoff losses...in the correct order and everything.

Since the Giants have turned into monumental frauds, I guess I would be OK with the Vikings making it and getting some much deserved vengeance on Favre (SB in 1996, tanking week 17 games to knock Pats out of the playoffs in 2002/2008).

Scores will be settled I tells ya. Oh yes, scores will be settled.

What I found interesting was the strength of schedule being teh difference between 4th and 2nd...and I wonder how that will change in the next weeks...say if the Titans and others win...I am surprised Cinci is that far ahead with Cleve twice, Det and KC....not exactly sure how that is computed, esp with playing teams twice...which is why they are high..with Balt, Pitts twice...

so, if i read that correctly, we're currently number four seed...?

I missed that the one that separates is STRENGTH OF VICTORY...a bit different...and here, the fact that the Pats have not beaten the top teams is really telling... a victory over NO will change that scenario...cinci beating cleve and SD beating KC will not help as much as the Pats having a win over NO.... THAT changes it some..as teh Patriots might get into the .415ish type number, but it starts to close the gap..and a loss pushes them a game back..

A loss Monday night makes it most probable that the Pats remain the 4 seed. And to safely ensure that, beating Miami next Sunday is key.

Enough negativity. Let Belichick and the Dark Side crush the Saints!

I am just as curious about the seeding process etc... but - there is still time to go. The Titans could win out and ride Uncle Rico's magical tour bus with Chris Johnson at the wheel and finish 10-6 !

Truth is that NE has a decent shot at winning all their remaining games after Monday night. Which means I predict either 13-3 or 12-4. Obviously, if the last game doesn't mean anything for seeding, I can see Hoyer and a bunch of scrubs losing (maybe bringing down record to 11-5).

Fun times.

Again the key for us is to have a better record than San Diego and Cincy..

With Dixon starting today, I am officially counting the Steelers OUT of the playoffs. I just don't see how they could recover if they lose this game, even with an easy schedule.

That is key...and what is good is that they play each other in 3 weeks...so can hope one knocks the other out.
Both have only 2 home games left....
Cinc plays Det--Minn--SD--KC--NYJ while SD plays Cleve--Dall--Cinc--Tenn-Wash
Not sure I want to depend on the Jets to do anything.
Keeping ahead is important and part of that is the strength of victory. With a win tomorrow over the Saints, that pushes the Pats ahead of the other two teams. Winning over Cleve or KC only lowers their strength. SD's schedule is a bit stronger than Cinc and really the Pats is about the same..although no really horrible teams or really good ones.

Wins the next 2 weeks.. We could run the table.. And then should have the second seed.. San Diego, has Dallas Cincy and Tenn... Cincy has minn , kc san diego, we just need 2 losses between the 2 teams and and us to sweep and we have the bye..

As has been said, we could very easily end up with the Number 2 seed in the AFC. San Diego could very well lose to Cincy, Tennessee, and Dallas. Cincy could very well lose to San Diego and Minnesota. That's why we just need to do everything we CAN do and that's win out. If we win tomorrow night and then next weekend at Miami (who looks like they've mailed it in), we should close out the season at 3-3 and that should be good enough to take hold of the second seed in the AFC.

When I saw Vince Young threw for 380 yards, I was amazed. I am believing in the 10-6 Titans. Hopefully they can beat the Colts next week.

Of course I'll be rooting Big for the Tits but the pressure game after game of being undefeated takes a brutal psycic toll. Pats will beat the Colts if they meet post season. Defeating a 16-0 team will be sweet!

I'll be rooting for big tits, myself.
