Stumbled over kind of a fun little thing yesterday. Chris Russo, a sports talk host for wfan in new york, has a book about the "greatest sports arguments." One of the categories are those sports records that will never be broken--top of the list is "The Perfect NFL Season." Book was in 2003, I think, and he makes the perfectly valid points you'd expect about how hard, nearly impossible, it would be to achieve ever again.

Pats aren't there yet, but a fun thing to read.

The record is by definition unbreakable. You can only tie an undefeated season, you can't best it.

Kind of like the whole "Magic well water: eternal life or you money back" sort of deal.

19>17......

Well, right. The idea of it was that an undefeated season wouldn't happen again.

A perfect season may happen this season. A winless season may happen this season.

But one record that will never occur is a 0-0-16 season, I bet my account on it.

The record can't be broken. However the sports argument of the best undefeated season based on the records compiled by the teams is a good sports argument.

That is the point I was trying to make

If an infinite number of monkeys play for an infinite number of seasons, eventually all possible records will be met. This seems to be the guiding philosophy of the Jets.

19/19 = 17/17

That is true also.

So is 19>17.

Babe Ruth hit 60 HRs in 158 games.

Roger Maris broke the HR in a season mark by hitting 61 in 162.

........don't even mention the "asterisk" argument, please.
