Tyrod Taylor to the Browns for a 3rd

Taylor as a one year placeholder is fine, but the top of the 3rd round pick? Insanity. I like Taylor more than, say, an average Bills fan seems to, but if I was trying to trade for him and the Bills asked for as much as a 5th round pick I'd hang up and go see what Case Keenum was doing.

I imagine this was just to shut Hue Jackson up for five minutes.

Tyrod is the place holder while they select a QB with #1 overall would be my guess. But they have potential this year. He has weapons to throw to and doesn’t COMPLETELY suck like Kizer did as a rookie.

I don't think they see Tyrod as the solution but it's just interesting they spend the pick on an expensive player when they could have used the pick in the draft and maybe still signed a similar QB.

Yeah, well, the Browns are gonna Browns.

All joking aside, I can see the appeal of Tyrod for Jackson. Taylor may not do a lot, good or bad, that makes you go 'Wow!' but that is a big step forward if you are Cleveland. As a caretaker get us from here to there (whoever 'there' turns out to be) type, a guy that doesn't turn it over throwing to that receiving core is not too shabby. Taken as a whole these are the first real signs the Brownies may not be Browning about. But then again...this is the Browns

It's literally the year when there's a glut of mediocre QBs available. Taylor, Keenum, Bridgewater, Bradford, McCown, Glennon, Foles (maybe). Siemian, Osweiler. And they traded a top of 3rd round pick for the job of "warm body"? Why? Taylor is arguably better than some of them, but it's arguable.

Also, signing Jarvis Landry then pairing him up with a QB who absolutely will not risk throwing into tight windows is a real good idea.

Well I think the Bills fleeced the Browns. Tyrod is worth a 4th maybe, but obviously he's just a stopgap and the Browns desperately need to win a few games and acclimate that locker room to winning. TT can win a few games, I just don't think he wins any tough game, maybe some games handed to the Browns by the other team, Kizer couldn't even do that.

Also TT is a vet who made the playoffs last year so he can take some of the pressure of whoever the Browns draft at QB and Hue Jackson since fans will not be asking for a QB change every game, UNLESS the rookie really starts to show he's ready in pre-season games and TT stinks in a different system.

Also I think is smart from the Browns to use some of those picks to acquire talent instead of just keep drafting.

Now what I think will really happen is that Hue Jackson will be exposed because there is no way they dont win a few games next season with what they already have + draft unless the coaching sucks. If they dont win at least 4 games he should look for a career change.

I can't tell if what the Browns are doing is genius or completely idiotic. They had tons of picks and cap space, so they spend both at the same time via trading for expensive vets.

Good question...My answer? Makes me think'f Dumbrowski.

And there’s the serviceable quarterback I was just talking about in the other thread. Good move by Cleveland. Taylor isn’t an all-pro, but a change of scenery might do him good. He will have a lot more talent to throw the ball to as well. This will allow the Browns to draft a q.b. and let him sit for a long while, something I don’t think they’ve done in quite a long time.
Sitting on the bench and learning from Tyrod Taylor isn't the same as sitting on the bench and learning from Tom Brady.

I joked in another thread that Landry will get 100 receptions for 500 yards this season. I think now that Taylor will be the QB, the yardage will be even lower.
