Ty Warren out for Sunday?

Saw that too and was surprised it wasn't mentioned. So I guess Green gets the start. Will be interesting to see how he does, as I'm not sure how many chances he has had to line up on the end in the 3-4 alongside Wilfork & Seymour.

I know last year he filled in for Big Sey, but I'm not sure Warren has ever been hurt before allowing Green to get reps in that starter spot.

I was really looking forward to the "new" Ty Warren dominate against Bills ORT Jason Peters. I thought it was obvious that he improved his body/quickness in the offseason. I love Ty, he is one of the steadiest players on the team and really doesn't get enough love.

I know Jarvis can hold it down, but Ty is better against the point of attack and the Bills will run off-tackle right the whole game.

Considering who wrote that article, and the fact that he seems to be offering his opinion on things (including the utterly logical, "he practiced in full pads without a non-contact jersey and ran well, but don't expect him to play because some idiot at ESPN or the Herald says so"), I'll take it with a grain of salt. Maybe they play on Sunday, maybe not, but Felger is about the last person I'd trust on these matters, short of Wrong Borges.

I'm pretty sure Mike Wright played in Ty's spot against the Giants. Is it possible he will do the same vs the Bills? Or will Sey just move over and Jarvis will play RDE? All these injuries are driving me nuts. Where's that panic button?

I think it will be Mike Wright, and not Jarvis Green, who gets the bulk of the defensive snaps replacing Ty Warren.

I also don't think that the quality of opponent would be much more than a minor factor in whether an injured player plays or not. If BB feels that Warren would benefit for the rest of the 15 games by not playing week 1, I think he would sit him even if we were playing the Colts or Steelers.

As for Maroney -- I've never heard of a Pats player practicing during the week only to miss a meaningful game from an injury he suffered before the week, and does not aggravate in practice. I wouldn't be surprised, however, if Dillon started the game and got the bulk of the carries, with Maroney only coming in if necessary.

Also, in response to NEM, I gotta disagree my friend. BB's mantra is one game at a time, and every game is important, except this is a division game and is therefore more important. There are no easy wins in the NFL, so short of meaningless games like week 17 last year against the Dolphonies, he is not going to rest guys who are healthy enough to play, in my opinion. The decision to play them will be based on (1) doctor's reports (2) what he sees in practice and (3) game plan.

I dont think he sees it as an easy win at all...but I believe he uses common sense and to put 1 game at risk over the remaining 15, especially when this one is at home, i think that is on his mind.

I believe that if the doctor says player X is healthy and has recovered from injury Y and if he he looks ready in practice then he plays (subject to game plan and said players role(s) on the team) and if he is not then he doesn't. Simple as that. I don't think BB says to himself, "well Tedy is medically cleared to play and he looked good in practice but I'm going to keep him sidelined because it's the Bills and/or because I want to be cautious with the injury."

Now if the doctors say he could play in an emergency (like TO in the Super Bowl) but he'd be risking reinjury and another week would lower that risk significantly, that would be different.

I think this is a strong possibility. I read somewhere that Hill was going to back-up Warren at LDE instead of RDE where he was the last two years.

IIRC during the preseason Wright played mostly at RDE. I don't know what the difference is in the the two positions in terms of responsibility but it probably changes week to week.

Wright started at LDE in place of Warren against the Giants, fwiw.

The right side of the O-line is also often called the "strong" side since some teams build up their run blocking over there and focus on pass blocking with the left side. Warren is a fantastic run stuffer, especially with Willie lined up on that side. Colvin has taken most of his reps over there, but his run stuffing hasn't looked as good this preseason as it did in the second half of last season - still, he was a slow starter in run defense last year, so maybe that is just Rosey and he'll get stronger as the season goes along. If I had to bet I'd say Wright gets the start, but Hill rotates in for a couple series.

if i had to guess id say mike wright would start in ty's place

Any injury obviously sucks, but if you want to find a silver lining, this will be a good opportunity for Sullivan to hopefully get some live first team reps.

Will be very interesting to see who logs most minutes with Warren out.....

Marquise has never been on the Practice Squad, he's always been on the roster.

If Belichick already has Warren as doubtful or out in his mind, I think the Pats could be working on Wilfork taking some snaps at Warren's DE spot, and Sullivan working at NT. Although I don't know if we have the NT depth to do that.

I think Sully is still too raw in two-gap technique to use him as a starter, Wright or Green or switch Sey over and plug in Green or Wright makes more sense. Sully will get reps to spell Vince, but I expect they'll limit his time or use him more in the 4-3 looks. Think of Vince and Truck in 2004, lots of alternating. A lot of it so Romeo could yell at Truck on the sideline.

Suffice it to say they have plenty of options at DL without having to have someone make sure Hill is facing the correct goal line.:bricks:
