read this article and agree to the extent that the RS, despite my feelings, are still #1 year round. The Pats are clearly second, the Bruins and Celtics are becoming relugated into obscurity, I used to enjoy them, but they never came close to the pats.

i liked really a lot this article.

our loved Ne Patriots finally reached the top in popularity too.

for me they were ALWAYS number one.

passion is passion, faith is faith.

and thks to Robert Kraft in a way and Billy Sullivan in another way.

Both loves and loved , like we, the Pats !

It's an interesting article. I have been surprised at the depth of feeling on here towards the Sox, so there would appear to be a lot of truth in the article. I suspect that the Pats will only be a fad as long as they win.
Out of interest, is this reflected in the rest of New England?

I don't think so. For the Red Sox, 1967 and the Impossible Dream was the turning point after about fifteen years of being perennial losers. Since then they've have about 3 losing seasons and always were on the cusp of winning it all. The fans responded and you've had two generations of die hard fans.
As the article says, for the Pats, it was signing Parcells in 1993 that turned this franchise around after thirty years of drifting (amid an occasional playoff game).
The way this franchise is run, I can't see a drought for more than a year or two before they turn it around. In the NFL, it's tougher to stay on top with player bickering, injuries and coaching changes (see Eagles, Philadelphia 2005 for reference). The fact that the Pats made it to the second round of the playoffs with coaching changes, and all those injuries compared to other teams in the same situation is a testament to their tenacity. That's not an excuse but an explanation. All teams have injuries and eventually they catch up to you but to go 10-6 with a QB with a hernia and a MASH unit, is pretty impressive...... It's not a SB year but look down I-95 at Philly to see how bad it could be.......
Just my $0.02,

It was a good article and a true article by saying "Boston is a baseball town". It is.

Reason is that the RS paly right in Boston. Boston also has a lot of college students adn they are more baseball fans.

However once you get out of the 128 area, and take all of NE, I think you will find more of a 50-50 split.

I agree, if the Sox start losing have a really bad year then the fans will lose interest by August. That is natural, if the Bruins and Celtics start winning and looking good then the fans will come back. The management of those two for the last ten years has stunk though.

i disagree that Boston is a red sox town.
I think it`s a lot of media that keeps red sox talk at the top
The globe part owners of red sox, WEEI red sox home base radio station.
Where i work in Boston the #1 conversation is always bout the pats
When someone tried to talk about Theo we said who cares he don`t
catch, pitch, or hit all he knows is how to run.Today is the super bowl
and no matter how much it hurts the patriot fan to watch it we will.
Could you say that bout 7th game of world serries? No one talked about
chisox in serries last year. No big parties going on for world series.

i would like that the Pats will become n.1 in Boston and i think there are possibilities it will happens...
