Well, McDaniels didn't fail at OC, he failed as a head coach. Big difference.

It's not a good look that that his offenses as HC weren't good though.

Garopollo had to ask McDaniels to involve their tight ends more, and even guys like Renfrow were iced out of gameplans from McDaniels for no reasons.

Even his Rams stint as OC wasn't good. The talent on the team wasn't good to be fair

I'll give McDaniels credit for Mac Jones though that wasn't sustainable imo.

Don't forget that McDaniels directed Matt Cassel to 11 and 5. Which should have been 12 and 4 had Belichick gone for it in the red zone against the Colts.

That's been very weird. Obviously he had Brady for most of his career, which helped, but he did quite well managing the backup situation in 2016 with Garoppolo and Brissett, along with Cassel and Mac Jones in other years. I'm guessing the additional responsibilities of being a HC could've thrown him off. Because at least with Vegas, talent definitely wasn't the problem.
