I'm encouraged by everything we've been reading on the defense. But I want to wait until I start seeing reports from the joint practices. Those always feel a little better, because you don't have to worry about one side of the ball while you're excited about the other. Right now we just don't know how comfortable the offense is with a new LT, no Edelman, and no Gronk. Even if the defense wasn't looking good, there would be an adjustment period with those losses.

For sure. If the CBs can dominate Golladay, Jones & Amendola that will be telling.

Yep. I’m holding an L, no doubt. Enjoyed every minute of it. But I was at least right that it’s still possible to play lockdown defense in the NFL.

The concept of a Jamie Collins who follows the playcall is almost unfair.

Usually I would agree about not getting ahead of oneself 8 days into TC. But this D is returning 9 of 11 starters and have added known quantities in Collins, Pennel and a returning Bentley. The secondary looks like murderers row. Seriously, a 2nd year 2nd round pick (Dawson) is a virtual DeadMan Walking. No other team can say that. I’m breaking my rule because this is already looking special (barring the inevitable injuries).

The O is the big question mark. It’s fortunate they have the smartest QB in the NFL and a great running game. They will win because of smarts and possession. Between that great D and a run dependent/dump off pass O, TOP spreads vs their opponents will be huge.

Down the stretch and in the playoffs, he was money last year. The TD against the Chargers, the TD in the AFCCG (fighting thru DPI) the somersault TD catch late in the season, the back of the end zone catch on Brady’s rollout against the Jets. The most acrobatic catches were all Dorsett. It just may have been a case of getting comfortable in the system.

A dominant defense today looks different than a dominant defense back then because the deck is stacked in favor of offense.

Oh trust me, I'm typing with a level head, but inside my gut is going BONKERS over the potential of this defense.

As for the offense, on top of Brady, it's also encouraging that just about all the major coaching turnover was on the defensive side of the ball. So we still have McDaniels and Scar to help the offense transition. I trust those three to put together something good.

Just look at 2006 and 2013, the two years that most would agree Brady had the fewest weapons he's had, and they finished 7th and 3rd respectively in points scored. I think the offense will figure it out, it just might take a month or so to find the rhythm.

How many practices have you been able to attend? Do you notice any differences in routines from prior years (possibly related to coaching changes)
