Man you're really riding the slow card. Plenty of "slow" WRs have been very productive in the NFL.He’s a slow white WR from a small school. He has to be great

What’s the old saying? If you have 2 QBs you have no Qb?Folks want 7 WR's because they are afraid that Vrabel doesn't have THEIR binkie in the top 5 (or perhaps).
We have the same rules and Practice Squad as everyone else.
We can CHOOSE to have a wasted roster spot or two. I suggest that Vrabel could find a better use of a roster spot. Obviously, he would keep a 3rd TE AND a FB if he could find them. They would clearly be more valuable than a 7th WR.
To me, it's no big deal. It isn't unreasonable to keep a player as a developmental player. IT IS unreasonable for us to expect a 7th WR to have a use on the roster this year.

LET SOMEONE CONVINCE US. FOR THE PAST TEN YEARS
How many receptions have been made by our #4, #5, #6, #7 and #8 receivers.
I am certainly open to a STer being our 6th receiver. Hoever, I don't expect our #6 to get have
receptions.
The players were very old and slow. It was hard to watch what happened to McCourty and Hightower. But it wasn't only them either. Multiple old vets at LB and the defensive secondary. Chung too.Nobody really gave the 2010 Jets a chance going back into Gillette after they just got their asses kicked on MNF. The only difference between the Jets and 2021 Pats was that the Jets had already proven to get to an AFCCG the year prior. The Pats defense was not very good whenever they faced a competent offense which posters still deny here. Allen and the offense straight up embarrassed them.
Just BTW, should a WR have to have 32 receptions to have been a contributor at WR? In the past 10 years, how many times do you think that FOUR receivers had this monumental achievement. Of course, the answer is ZERO.Folks want 7 WR's because they are afraid that Vrabel doesn't have THEIR binkie in the top 5 (or perhaps).

Kupp: 4.62Anqaun Boldin 4.71
AB 4.56
I'm 100% certain there are MANY others, including different positions.
They were wildcard teams that went on to win the SB.I’m not sure what you mean? Which versions of those teams?
As an aside, I would think that Hollins is more valuable as a special teamer (and active on Game Day) than any of Polk, Baker, or Chsim). But maybe not. Perhaps a special teamer like Pettus will beat Hollins out, or not. What’s the old saying? If you have 2 QBs you have no Qb?
If you have 5 WR5s you have 4 WRs.
Diggs is the 1
Douglass is the slot
Boutte is holding down #2 until Williams takes it.
Fill out the rest if the group however you want and it will have very little impact. If you are worried about the future, next year and every year after that we will have “young guys with potential that we don’t want to ket get away” and the almost all of the ones that get away do nothing more than the next man up.
The difference between guys who aren’t good enough to crack the top 4 is slim and virtually irrelevant.
But fun to talk about I suppose.
Gotcha. You also have teams like the 01 Patriots, 99 Rams, 2000 Ravens, Bengals in 21, Tampa in 20, eagles in 17 and again in 22, 2016 Falcons, Carolina nothing 03 and 15, the 49ers in 2019. It seems there are more years than not that non-playoff teams turn into SB teams. They were wildcard teams that went on to win the SB.
I haven’t “used that argument against him” I’ve simply pointed out that it’s pretty much the only reason anyone thinks highly of him.Kupp: 4.62
Welker: 4.65
Fitzgerald: 4.64
Allen: 4.71
..........etc.
Chism had very good short area numbers.
His numbers overall are very similar to Kupp's
Ring has used the "slow" "white" and "small school" argument against Chism many times.
Pretty sure Kupp is white, pretty sure he's slow by NFL standards, and pretty sure he went to the same small school. Oh, I'm pretty sure that same slow white small school WR won the WR triple crown.
A lot more slow WRs have failed.Man you're really riding the slow card. Plenty of "slow" WRs have been very productive in the NFL.
Ultimately the difference is barely significant. At the bottom of the roster the difference between keeping on guy or another is minute. It’s often just a matter of luck that the end of the line guy either makes a lucky play or a bonehead play when he gets a rate chance. As an aside, I would think that Hollins is more valuable as a special teamer (and active on Game Day) than any of Polk, Baker, or Chsim). But maybe not. Perhaps a special teamer like Pettus will beat Hollins out, or not.
I'm not going to go back and search, but you've said he is not an NFL WR because he is slow, white and from a small school. So pretty sure you are using those as your criteria against him.I haven’t “used that argument against him” I’ve simply pointed out that it’s pretty much the only reason anyone thinks highly of him.
I think Woodson could turn out a better Duron Harmon.Don’t forget Woodson in this rookie class. He has been playing some with the 1s.
running NFL routes and doing things like making route changes based on the defense is ANOTHER thing that RB's need experience to learn as passing routes for college backs are much more rudimentary. As a passing back, James White is the gold standard and averaged about 25 snaps a game, ran the ball 2-3 times, and caught about 4 passes a game. He is the benchmark.
To your point, if TH can read Ds and know when to pick up the blitz, pass block, run his route/cut it off and be the same brain as Drake he might play more.
We assume he'll run the ball more than White but unknown if he'll be as prolific as a receiver out of the backfield.
FWIW, though, the "emergency" QB rule [QB3 as player #49] cannot be used for a QB who's a gameday elevation from the PS. Also, to have 48 active players, a team must dress 8 OL.Ok then they save a spot with 2 QB's. There's plenty of room with the extra spots rule change.
Terrible President. Great dam though.Folks want 7 WR's because they are afraid that Vrabel doesn't have THEIR binkie in the top 5 (or perhaps).
