Definitely a lot of ways to slice that pie regardless of new or old practice squad rules. I just tend to stick to the more traditional numbers at each position as my default and specifically with WR I don't feel the extra numbers are as useful on gameday. 5 maybe 6, 7 just seems excessive.

For me at this stage it's about talent building. I don't put them as Super Bowl contenders quite yet, and even if they are, some of these young guys would need to step forward.

Diggs and Hollins are the vets, but I don't have a problem with Williams, Boutte, Pop, Polk, and Baker fighting it out all year, and be more traditional next one.

Next year we draft a TE or 2, and rebuild that position.

The linear progression to contender of the 60s and 70s is no longer the norm in the NFL.
Teams become contenders much more quickly than they used to.

Hey @Steve102 you forgot Kyle Williams

They cannot afford to give away even a decent young receiver at this point. Baker has shown enough in camp so far, so Bourne gets traded, Chism to PS and Polk is a second rounder from last year. You keep or trade.

I'm not going to lose sleep if Baker is cut. Boutte's development has given us the depth we need, and we drafted Williams who's separation traits has more upside.

I am more nervous about Chism not making it through waivers. Maybe I'm naive in thinking that, but I think for this JMD offense, having a jitterbug slot to back up Pop, in the very real scenario that he gets banged up, is more important than having Baker sitting behind Diggs, Boutte and Hollins.

The McDaniels offense was just fine when they had Meyers in the slot -- wonderful player but not a "jitterbug". I'd be much more concerned that they don't have a fullback or a blocking tight end.

Someday we will look back to today and say “THIS is when if really came together for the Pats’ latest dynasty.
Fight, Fight, Fight

I mean a contender to win it. Even be in it.

I think they're a playoff team, but in the AFC it's quite a path to go deep, let alone make the super bowl. A 4 win team the year before still doesn't go that far in this century.

And I don't think the idea of starting with 7 WR's would get in the way anyway.

They've invested a lot of draft capital in WR, and have some possibilities. They've invested nothing in TE for years.

Why keep a JAG? Let's see how things go.

I love that Vrabel jumped in on the fight pile. I love that the fight started because our rookie rb was too strong in blitz pick-up for probably a 250+ lb LB.

That’s Treyveon Henderson.

It’s what he does.

Can blitz pickup AND draw a flag on some butthurt defender who gets flattened by said blitz pickup, trying to throw hands? Hell yes.

I've been missing these types on our offense. I also like that Boutte is getting dialed in while seemingly ready to scrap. I'm not expecting the cleanest and best offense, but damnit I want some DOGS out there.
