Training Camp 8/7 Observations

Danny Amendola beat Logan Ryan down the sideline and laid out for a one-handed grab (with his left hand extended) to make a great catch.

Amendola's catch over Ryan was probably the best catch of the summer. Great reception.

Malcom Brown seemed fine after practice. It was a left ankle or foot issue, but trainers didn't wrap or ice it after lengthy look.

No idea what happened to Stork, but he watched the majority of practice without his helmet while standing with Dave DeGuglielmo.



Neither seem life threatening. Any serious ailment I wouldn't expect Stork "standing" let alone on the field. Maybe a little under the weather and short of breath, who knows.

Aaron Rodgers has thrown 6 and apparently from the piece I read that is a good thing.

As for Mariota probably a combination of playing against a **** defense and them trying to build him up to be ready.

This is most likely what I think. Bad secondary, babying him. I haven't watched him, but are they making him make the hard throws? Or is he throwing quick slants and screens all day designed to build his confidence?

Brandon Gibson is surging with the WR injuries. Caught 7 passes from Brady today. Now has 11 in two days.


Gibson was my initial choice to make the roster from the bottom cluster, maybe ahead of Dobson.

They are probably still working on the read option, no passing drills yet. Lol

Tim Tebow was excellent at not throwing interceptions. Probably his greatest quality as a passer. That tells you all you need to know about judging QB play based on that stat in a vacuum. Never mind that it's a practice. Volin is unintentionally hilarious.

On sideline, LeGarrette Blount was flexing his right leg as he stood and talked to athletic training staff. Now walking to locker room.

Doesn't sound serious.

With the athletic staff letting him flex his leg...hopefully it's not a major injury and he will be back week 2. I think if they thought it was very serious...they may have asked him not to move it and immobilized it. JMO.

I still think it's a big deal when any starting NFL RB goes down with an injury. This should have it's own thread. I hope he gets well soon.

At this point I think we would all be disapponted if Roberts didnt make this team think it might be over a vet like Fletcher.

Seems all around the league there are a lot of injuries, I expect this time at camp players to start getting banged up, just keeping my fingers crossed there are no major injuries.

@jeffphowe: Rookie Darryl Roberts now leads the Patriots with 5 pass breakups in team drills in training camp.

Roberts was one of the top guys in CFB last year at getting his hands on the ball so it's nice to see him continue that trend.

He's a lock to make the team. Most athletic CB on the roster with the most upside.
