Training Camp 8/7 Observations

Well I just heard that Blount went down in practice on WEEI.
The injury list is getting a little long IMO.

Well hopefully they are injuries that will only make the team better cause the depth players get more snaps.

IDK if these injuries would keep these players out of real games.

Right now though your starting WRs be Amendola, Gibson & Boyce with Grey running the ball. Hardly fearsome even with Gronk.

On sideline, LeGarrette Blount was flexing his right leg as he stood and talked to athletic training staff. Now walking to locker room.

Doesn't sound serious.

disagree.......Extremely fearsome so long as Gronk is there.

McCourty picked Brady. Brady's second INT of camp. First for McCourty.

Edit: More detail

Brady just threw his second INT of training camp. Target to Gronk tipped by Chung and picked by McCourty.

Good going Chung.

It looked serious enough that he didn't even flip over onto his back until a trainer came over.

I think Mariota will be better than Winston

If the defense can afford 5 rushers, an LB to challenge Gronk at the line, and a DB to cover Gronk, then the Patriots' offense isn't fearsome. I.e., if it's Amendola/Gibson/Boyce/some RB vs. 4 DBs + a blitz, plus doubled Gronk -- I don't hate those odds, but I don't love them either.

But then, I doubt Edelman, Lafell and Dobson will ALL be on the shelf.

You SHOULD throw some picks in camp. Not just that you & your WRs are still working on timing but a QB should try new things & push the envelope. Not to the degree of developing bad game habits but find out just how much each target fights for position, fights for the ball, etc. Assess their desire to make the play vs leave you in the lurch. Handy to know in tight coverage situations.

Seriously, saying a QB isn't throwing a lot of picks in TC is like saying a baseball player is drawing a lot of walks in batting practice.

By all accounts, Blount has been best RB by far. Hope he's ok. But there are worse guys to lose - we all know that.

Mariota ? Pfft. Volin, that is weak sauce.

Agreed, a better indicator is accuracy and pocket awareness

Bryan Stork and Malcom Brown didn't finish practice due to injuries. Blount went down earlier.

Brady was 27 of 34 with an INT. Another INT was negated due to a defensive hold. Garoppolo was 17 of 30 with an INT.

Doug Kyed ‏@DougKyedNESN 31m31 minutes ago

Brady was 9-11, INT in 7on7s, 18-23 in 11on11s. Garoppolo was 4-7 in 7s, 14-23, INT in 11s.

Doug Kyed ‏@DougKyedNESN 32m32 minutes ago

McCourty and Duron Harmon has interceptions in practice.
