Unfortunately, that mentality is still pretty prevalent at every level, no matter how much we learn about the impact that concussions have over the rest of these guys' lives.

I didn't think it was particularly cheap. He was right there in he play near he returner. It didn't look like the guy intentionally led with his helmet or anything.

Bit time helmet to helmet contact on the hit. I don't know if it was intentional (I expect it wasn't), but it was the type of hit that's not supposed to be allowed.

Well, I watched the youtube link. My initial impression while watching the game couldn't have been more wrong.

That was an intentional hit. He put his helmet down and put a hit on Woodhead's helmet. That was a cheap hit.

I stand corrected.

My first assessment was not correct.

No. Here's the rule:

The initial force of a blindside block can't be delivered by a helmet, forearm or shoulder to an opponent's head or neck. An illegal blindside block will bring a 15-yard penalty.

He was good enough to play several years for the Jets and allow the Jets to develop him, just his misfortune the Jets had more talented players ahead of him deserving a roster spot.

I will always be a huge fan of the guy, he plays like a Jet.

With all due respect, it would be at least a bit delusional to think that the jets wouldn't like a do-over on the decision to cut Danny Woodhead.
