Yup. The Patriots. Cap went up. We're good.
I would think so. The Titans have over 100 million in cap space, plus Daboll and a Ward at QB. Taxes now become an issue, yet again.

#1 Tyler Lindebaum. Put him right in front of Maye for the next 10 years.
Agreed this is a massive need. Bradbury can be the backup and Ben Brown is your interior swing guy. Then another offseason of Campbell and Wilson working together and the left side might be very solid.

Or what about Jake Slaughter? Love the name and his game. Wonder if he's worth a draft pick? Then again if you fan get Lindebaum...you do it and draft otherwise.

Wilson has barely been better than Layden Robinson was last year. I don't know what the Pats plan is for him. I hope he improves his strength and ability to read defenses.

One of the reasons I like signing Conor McGovern is that he has proven positional flexibility at a high level. He was a guard before he shifted to center. So you can have him and Wilson battle it out for the starting Center job. If Wilson wins it, then McGovern plays LG. If McGovern wins it, you have Wilson as your primary back-up learning the job.

Ben Brown has been better at LG this year and will be pushing the others in camp for a shot at the starting job.

Pats have around 39M in projected cap space for 2026 with 50 players signed.

I expect Chaisson to be signed away.

UFA:
Tonga
Hooper
Chaisson
Hawkins
D'Ernest Robinson
Thayer Munford
Vederian Lowe
Darius Harris
Craig Reynolds
Thomas Odukoya

RFA:
Tommy Devito
Jack Gibbens
Alex Austin
Jaquelin Roy

ERFA:
Deneric Prince
Isaiah Iton
Jack Westover

I expect Tonga, Hawkins, Gibbons and Munford to be resigned. I also expect Devito to be given an RFA tender unless he's re-signed outright.

I do not expect Alex Austin or Jaquelin Roy to be tendered.

I expect that Lowe and Chaisson will be offered starting contracts elsewhere.

I was listening to Lazar and Barth, and they made the point that Drake seems to favor big WRs more than the fast little ones, so I think we should be targeting bigger receivers like Hollins.

I do like the idea of Alec Pierce but for me it's all about the OL. I believe that if Drake could have one more second each pass attempt, he would tear up the league. I don't care how it happens, but we need to improve the OL. Give me Linderbaum and maybe Edwards.
Great post. I would say even half a second. Last year we broke the bank for Williams, let's break the bank for Linderbaum this year.

Why are we targeting ANY receivers? We have Diggs, Williams, Boutte, Chism, Hollins, and Douglas all under contract already.. The Pats also have Jon Jiles, Jeremiah Webb, and now Trent Sherfield on the PS.

Receiver is the one position the Pats are unlikely to do anything with next year. Despite all the people getting in a tizzy over Brown.

Wish we had had the opportunity to draft him straight out of college. Belichick never would have passed up an opportunity to draft a guy like that.

I think Hollins/Douglas/Kyle Williams/Chism are all guys you'd like to have 4th or lower on the WR depth chart. As of now, we need one of them to be #3. And that's not a killer at all. Look at how good we've been.

BUT, our offense has had some struggles lately against the better defenses. You look at how they're playing us... they don't respect our receivers. They don't respect their ability to separate. Defenses are playing us with an attitude that Maye will make some throws that they can't defend, but our receivers won't consistently win downfield. So instead of playing us to cover, they're putting more guys in the box and blitzing more creatively. Despite Maye's downfield passing ability, we faced loaded boxes at a very high rate this year. That has downstream impacts on our pass pro and run game.

So looking at it all, I don't think we have much need for "depth" type WRs. There's not much need for us to sign ho-hum middle of the road guys there. We have plenty. But if there was an opportunity to add a guy who could push safeties back some and open things up underneath, that's something we could of course benefit from.

Douglas is in the last year of his deal and nothing against him but he's pretty expendable if we added a guy like Pierce. We could move him for a late pick or whatever. You have a main 3 WR set of Pierce/Diggs/Boutte. Hollins/Williams/Chism are your depth guys. Remember, Diggs is going to be 33 next year and his contract is set up year to year. There's little doubt he'll be on the team next year, but in 2027 he's got a $26M cap number for his age 34 season with only $4M dead money if released. If I had to bet, I'd say he's off the team for 2027. Hollins is also going into his age 33 season next year and 34 in 2027.

I like the idea of a long term receiving group of Pierce/Boutte outside with Kyle Williams/Chism rotating in the slot. I think Pierce fits really well and addresses a deficiency we currently have. So I'd pursue him for sure. If it's too much, we can survive with what we have. Not a "need" but I think Pierce could be one of the best fits/values for us in the FA market.

Belichick had the opportunity to draft Lindebaum but traded down to 29 and drafted Cole Strange. Massive **** up.

Because Diggs and Barefoot turn 34 in 2027. Not saying WR's can't be productive @ 33 but @ 34 all bets are off. Having a Guy this Year for that inevitable situation is prudent. That's why I would roll the dice on the injured Chris Bell I were them. We wouldn't need him this year so we can let Him Heal completely and have him ready for 2027.

I saw K Chaisson getting around Garrett Bolles one the Best LT's in the game. Yeah K Chaisson is very good and is worth keeping. Unless you're planning on being our new Edge Rusher DB #55??

Big catch radius is always a positive.

Feels like we need our next TE this year. Via draft or the marketplace.

Im not a cap guy but I was reading that we could play with some contracts and free up a chunk of money. Give us like $80 mil total in space. That sound right?

At least he didn't draft Cole Strange over a future HOF guard like Tyler Smith.

The two major contracts the Pats can wipe out are Diggs ($28M cap hit) and Owenu ($25M cap hit).

K Pitts and G Pickens are Tops at their Respective Positions.

Pitts is the most overrated player in football and adding Pickens is like willfully contracting a venereal disease.

They should spend their money on Lindebaum and maybe Jaelen Philips. Then draft more OL.
