Barry Sanders and Jim Brown are the two guys in contention for GOAT at RB. Walter Payton is third for me.

Its funny that of the modern era RBs, the two best dual-threat RBs were Faulk and Tomlinson.

1. James White
2. Kevin Faulk
3. L Blount
4. Shane Vereen
5. Dion Lewis
6. Danny Woodhead
7. Curtis Martin
8. Sammy Morris
9. Barry Sanders
10. Jim Brown

Sorry Marshall you're not even an honourable mention

Statistics are only part of the equation, but here is a listing of the most career yards from scrimmage per game. The minimum here is obviously too low for 'best ever', but the chart does a nice job of comparing many of the all-time greats.

Who has the highest yards from scrimmage per game with at least 40 career games? | StatMuse

Very interesting I would take it one step further, that is the RB yardage as a % of the total team yardage. My guess is that Brown would take a big lead there and Bell would be lower by THAT measure.

Nice get though.

Jim Brown
Barry Sanders
Walter Payton

Eric ****erson
Marshall Faulk
LaDainian Tomlinson

Emmitt Smith
Adrian Peterson
OJ Simpson
Earl Campbell

Does whining, jealousy, complaining, pouting, and making excuses count towards rushing accomplishments? If so, it's Tomlinson and Faulk in some order as the top 2. No one else is even in the discussion.

Here's mine

1. Barry Sanders

2. Walter Payton

3. Jim Brown

4. Emmitt Smith

5. Earl Campbell

6. Eric ****serson

7. Gale Sayers

8. Thurman Thomas

9. Adrian Peterson

10. Tony Dorsett
Wouldn't attempt this, but Gale Sayers was electric. I always thought he was the best. Injuries shortened his effectiveness and career.

Perhaps prime Terrell Davis belongs on that list?

Saw Jim Brown easy #!.

He was the focus of EVERY game he ever played in, but don't take my word for it ask a guy who is my age, BB he will tell you the same thing.
Every game he played, he was the focus of the defense and he was still unstoppable and most important, indefatigable. Ran the ball, got up slow, went back to alignment, ran the ball, again and again. Unfairly maligned, even today.

Perhaps prime Terrell Davis belongs on that list?

Terrell Davis reminds me of the RB version of Steve Young.. short career but an incredible peak.
