Tom Savage "Ready to Go" against Pats

I don't like how everyone is giving Houston absolutely no chance to win this game.
Why? Cause it'll suck "more" if they lose? Houston is garbage and has been garbage all year so they deserve people not giving them a chance. We seriously try too hard to manufacture worry as Pats fans. As if it creates good karma. The Texans are garbage and will lose by 30+. Write it down. Book it. The real playoffs start the week after.

So BoB again doesn't know who is his QB? Wtf

Well I don't think Osweiller is that horrible, clearly there's a ton of weight in his shoulders due to his cap numbers, Houston remains a dumpster fire in terms of QB. Osweiller needs more seasoning and maybe an offense more suited to his strengths which are kind of unknown at this time but he does have good physical tools, last year he did ok in a few games for the Broncos.

Houston paying 1.45 against Oakland in Houston was a sure thing. Vegas went crazy that line should be 1.2.

He has tools but he needs to refine his mechanics. He definitely has a strong arm but he lacks touch. And I think his accuracy needs improvement, which is because of his mechanics.

Physically, Savage is ready to go. Mentally, he's pissing his pants knowing anal penetration is coming.

No way Savage starts, Osweiler "earned" the start. Maybe Savage comes in at some point but doubt he starts.

To be fair to BOB, his decision on starting QB is akin to choosing between cancer and AIDS. I can see why he's hesitant to go with either guy and why he's holding off on making the final call.

Short of winning the SB how the hell does Rick Smith keep his job after his QB debacle

Drafts Tom Savage after passing up on Carr, Bridgewater and Garoppolo
Signs Osweiler to a $72m dollar deal

From what I've read Ostweiler is the GM's favorite, coach BOB prefers Savage.

That's why I expect Ostweiler to start, and if/when he does nothing in the first half O'Brien will play Savage in the second half. That way he'll get the advantage of halftime adjustments and the prevent defense to look good even though the game is already decided. BOB makes his point, his QB is better. And then the off season front office drama begins in Houston. Popcorn anyone?

So he is Ryan Mallet?

The year we drafted Jimmy, Tom Savage was one of my draft binkies as a mid-round option. Good arm, excellent work ethic, demonstrated leadership traits... but green. Not so different from Garoppolo, actually.

After the 2014 draft, it was widely believed that the Texans were targeting Garoppolo at the top of the 3rd round, but Belichick stole him from them at the bottom of the 2nd. The Texans ended up with Savage in the 4th instead, as their Plan B.

I thought at the time, and continue to think, that Bill O and Bill B were drafting their QBs to the same profile, and the same strategy-- get a kid with good fundamentals that we can groom into an NFL player. It wouldn't surprise me at all to learn that the Patriots had Savage on their draft board.

Irony is that the Pats didn't need a QB urgently, and would have had the time to groom Savage into a pro. Garoppolo was a luxury selection. Whereas, the Texans weren't drafting for luxury, they were (and still are) looking for a starter. Garoppolo would have been a nice fit for them, and would probably be starting for them, long before now, if things had worked out differently.

In an alternate plausible reality where the Texans traded up in the 2nd to take Garoppolo a few spots ahead of the Pats, I imagine that Tom Savage would have been the pick that the Pats spent instead on Bryan Stork in the 4th.

This is all to say, don't disrespect Savage as a prospect. There are valid reasons to believe that his ceiling is higher than his statistics say. In the same way that people who aren't watching Garoppolo in practice every day will question his legitimate trade value, the people who aren't watching Savage in practice every day will question his ability to perform.

The 2016 Patriots track record, the 2016 Houston track record, shaky QB situation, PO experience, big stage, major HFA. The evidence is lopsided and concludes the Patriots win this game. That's not ****sure that is a fair examination of the evidence.
So one can either speak to that evidence conclusion or one can join the BB wagon by saying "Houston..good, tough, well coached opponent.(pause)..good..(pause)..very good defense..(pause)..hard to beat...(pause)..need to have a good week of practice..(pause)..umm..(pause)..play well".

Either way it's up to you. Yet either way will not change the outcome on Saturday one iota. If Houston pulls off the upset it won't be because I said I'd be shocked if the Patriots don't easily beat a significantly lesser Texans' team,

listen, at this point, and im usually humble...Texans have not shown anything, at any point in the past 5 years against us (or the league) to proclaim them having a chance here

and then you look at the teams/talent and the gap widens

if we don't win this its a choke job

So he is Ryan Mallet?

Probably but I think Mallot had more issues than just his mechanics. And I am not saying Brock doesn't but Brocks problems seem to be more of the fact that he is a douche.

You keep your job when you become god parents to the owner's grandkids. It's a special kind of stupid down here.
