Tom Brady officially a part of Raiders’ ownership team

It’s funny to me, because I know he lives rent free in some Raiders fans heads.
Reading their Reddit sub, they have done a complete 180 on this compared to when it was announced a couple years back. Seems like he will fix all their problems now.

So how are you sure Toms only worth 400 million ? Where did you get that number ?
His networth is quoted at ~$300M in the celebrity sites. Not reliable but makes sense that would be on high end IMO. He has made around $330M in NFL salary. Half of that is after tax. You minus his expenses and add in his endorsements/investments over the years (post tax) and $300M is a reasonable number.

I assume his $380M from Fox over 10 years is helping pay off/secure the financing but I got to think that his partner is helping him offset some to be allowed in on the deal. I also wonder type of discount he got. Owners balked at 70% off but maybe ~20% was possible.

Whatever it is, the way NFL teams have appreciated, especially Raiders, plus his WNBA ownership, he will definitely make it into the billion club.

Cmon man. Celebrity sites. We have zero knowledge of his investments over the last 25 years. He could be a billionaire as far as we know today.

This is awesome. So ironic TB12 is a part of the Raiders ownership group. lol

I don't think his commentary of games will be impacted. Only time I listened to him was DAL /DET and he was pretty vanilla.

It's a poinant reminder the for 99% of these guys, football is a Business...

Makes guys like Bru, Troy and Edelman that much more special

If Kraft was actually smart, he would have offered this sort of ownership into the Patriots the day after Brady retired for good.
Kraft? Don't think he was willing to return the favor and pony up a "hometown discount" for his "other son" Brady... but he is going to sell a chunk of the team... 10% to a private equity firm... Put 700m in his pocket... Orchids aren't cheap, ya know?

I think the only way he would cut his business partner in on this is if he helped Brady pay for this or gave him an interest free loan or something like that. There would ne no other incentive for Brady to cut in somebody else at the same discount that Brady got.

Seems plausible to me that the partner was the money behind the whole thing, with Tom consenting to be "used" to get Davis onboard.

The partner is the same guy who is Brady's "partner" in the Birmingham City Football Club.

We don't even know if the partner got a discount. The dude's worth $9B, he can afford to pay full price.

The usual path to full ownership is to become a minority owner and get the rest of the owners comfortable with you being in the club.

This very well could be meant to be a path to full ownership of the Raiders or of some other club if/when it hits the market.

Haven’t seen anything clear cut on the Fox stance, but did see the league has sanctioned him from being in the production meetings and team facilities from the start of this.

If I’m Fox, this is a huge WTF. Would assume they paid to have an all-in Brady for commentary when determining his deal. Not a surface level Brady who can’t go through the standard rigors of broadcast prep and has to skate around everything being vocalized on each broadcast. Will see what Fox has to say, but why would they not want to maximize his value to them instead of getting Brady lite? Maybe it just comes down to getting eyeballs for them and this can still do that.

There was a feeding frenzy when Brady let it be known he was willing to do media.

I think it's fair to say Fox's blood rushed to its groin area, and to do so it left its brain.

They didn't care that he was asking for a ridiculous amount of money.

They didn't care that he wasn't very good at announcing.

They didn't care that they had to demote Greg Olsen, who is very good at announcing.

They didn't care that he had the option to return to playing.

They didn't care that he took an extra year off before starting.

So I doubt they put a "you can't own a slice of a NFL team" clause in his contract.

Yup, so much for that. Just goes to show that even the GOAT's values are relative and negotiable.

TB12 was a big part of our lives for 20 years. IMO for the first decade or so, from what I could tell, he was all about the football. Then, as people such as Giselle and Alex Guerrero showed up in his life he was still all about football, but was also up for schemes that would let him cash in on his name in ways that showed his values indeed were/are relative and negotiable.

For instance, if he sincerely was all in on nutrition and the "TB12 Method", why charge so much for his freaking book? A guy of his wealth could have printed less fancy books and sold them at cost or even given them away, if the goal was to popularize his thoughts on nutrition. But nope, he priced them so only relatively well-off people could get their hands on his books, and the rest of his products were really expensive too.

I've thought of a bunch of words I'd use to describe the business side of Tom. I think swindler, grifter or con man are too harsh. A word search came up with:
venal dishonest corrupt dishonorable crooked shady unscrupulous unprincipled untrustworthy corruptible bribable unethical fraudulent dirty amoral immoral bent degenerate purchasable mercenary buyable grafting lawless
The word I'd go with is shady. Not unscrupulous, but pretty darn close to it.

His movie/documentary career to me is a textbook case of of Steely Dan's Show Biz Kids.

Yet this is just my take. In today's world, anyone with celebrity status is expected to cash in on that status, even if that means being shady when you do so. Sincerity just isn't what it used to be.

FWIW... Hope Toamy doesn't enjoy wagering on NFL games, that's now verbotten.
