Why this helps Brady: Buys more time for 8th Circuit Peterson decision. If AP wins, Brady has better chance for en banc rehearing & SCOTUS.

Maybe they did this as a courtesy? Who knows. Not sure any of the judges actually ordered the extension - it may have been the clerk's office.

Courts almost always grant continuances, I don't think this is any big news, if they denied it, then that would have been bad

The court does but it takes the other sides attorney's opinion into consideration,these things are almost always granted with the other sides ok, the NFL are being aholes.

To use a football analogy, appropriately here, the NFL* was rushing to the line to try and snap the ball before the Pats can throw a challenge flag but the refs blew the whistle.
