Today's Reiss chat

http://espn.go.com/sportsnation/boston/chat/_/id/51649

Long Reiss chat, with lots of content. I see part of it is in another thread already (Reggie Bush).

First and foremost,

I recommend visiting patscap.com, where Miguel Benzan does a terrific job in this area.

Also, speculation about McCourty playing CB. That's not totally crazy, given that McCourty had great success there as a rookie. Of course, it only makes sense if the scheme is a good match for him, and if BB thinks more of Harmon (or other alternatives, but in practice I think Harmon) than others around here might.

Also, a Deflategate tidbit that is solely about the timing (Brady and BB have finally been interviewed, so perhaps a conclusion is being approached).

And more about football.

And a lot of Reiss' personality shining through. I like the guy. Either he's a smart, likeable Patriots fan, or else he fakes that role extremely well.

If Revis gets his ring in June at Kraft's house, does Woody Johnson scream tampering?

Gary, one follower on twitter had a good one that I'll pass along: The Jets will be playing the Tamper-24 defense this year.

From Reiss:
Sort of a big-picture rant here, but I feel like we've evolved over time into a culture that wants the answers right now -- not just in sports, but a lot of things. We just jump at things. We jump at people's remarks and make instant conclusions (e.g. running with Shane Vereen's remarks about a "step up", which could have meant a number of different things). I'm certainly guilty of it at times. Sometimes I wish it wasn't trending in this direction so quickly.
Balanced and thoughtful and always self-deprecating. Great guy to have on this beat.

I'm not sure about corner, but we saw McCourty playing some man coverage up at the line of scrimmage this past year, usually on a TE but sometimes on a WR. It was all dependent on matchups, and the times where it made sense were limited due to having a great crop of corners. I don't think we'll see any kind of massive shift, but I could see a few more of those moments popping up for McCourty this year.

That was very enjoyable. Thanks.

I know, right? Which must mean ESPN is looking for his replacement as we speak.
