I don’t think anyone could argue that Thompkins has had some struggles with his hands over the first six weeks of the season, however having watched some film of his college play this was never an issue at Cincinnati and for that matter it was not even a major issue during the preseason for those reasons it is my opinion that much of his drops were associated with nerves and confidence. Yesterday Thompkins made the type of catch that can turn a player into a king, the type of catch that will propel his confidence to new heights and give him some of the swagger that he had in training camp and preseason back.
It is my belief that that reception will be the one that we look back as the one that started it all, this kid has overcome so much and I know without knowing him personally that before that reception there was a level of doubt in his mind create from his prior mistakes in life, that doubt got punched in the face when he caught that ball.
