...but then that's what I want to see every week
Damn, beat me to it

The refs officiating like they don't have money on the game. And I want the pats to start the game without the lethargy that has plagued them every game so far this year.

Yes. Both of these.

As teams progress or regress, they tend to take steps forward or back.

Not to quibble, Ken, but isn't that sort of the definition of "progress" and "regress"? I mean, it's hard to progress while taking steps back.

Major goals (same pretty much every week):

1. Win.
2. Avoid major injuries.

Secondary goals (same pretty much every week):

3. Avoid turnovers / win turnover battle
4. Avoid penalties / mistakes
5. Play complementary football
6. Show signs of general progress (see above for definition)
7. Play 60 minutes, with intensity

Specific things I'd like to see vs. Browns:

- Drake Maye make vaunted Cleveland defense look silly
- DL make inexperienced QB look silly
- Get TreVeyon Henderson and Kyle Williams involved
- Will Campbell and Jared Wilson stonewall Cleveland DL

Pipe Dreams:

- A well-referreed game.
- Kate Upon naked. Not my type, but I won't quibble. More likely than the first pipe dream.

That's the one. Making great plays, sustaining some drives, just having an inarguably good day against a great defense.

That's the hallmark of a system and players that are really ready to contend.

Expect a lot of penalties today, especially on PAts. Alex Moore's crew did game 2 vs Dolphins. In his first 43 games( 36 as umpire and 7 as ref), only 3 had ten or more penalties versus home team. In his last 13 games, 9 of them had 10 or more penalties versus home team ( and one other had 9 penalties).

He was umpire for part of them.
Only a ref for 7 games this year and 5 /7 had 10 penalties on home team.
Did the league send a memo to call more penalties??

i do expect a lot of penaltys today. this crew should be broken up

Would love to see Will Campbell hold his own,and for the running game to be effective enough for successful play action and for Williams to have 2-3 plays that result in first downs.

Offensive line to play well and create room in the run game.

Get the ball out fast! If there was ever a game to utilize a slot receiver, 3rd down back and TE’s it’s this game.

Don’t hold the ball. Josh has to create some plays using scheme… something he seemingly doesn’t do unless pressed by the media.

Ken, good post. I like your…
1. 2-min drill pace

5/6: overload & fake blitzes.

Above all; no injuries…

I would like to see, w very little hope or evidence, that they show they can run the ball like they did some last week and that RBs can find-hit the lanes/holes.

2 major goals accomplished.

Game iced by end of 3rd quarter.

Dominant win against a good defense while not playing our best.

No naked Kate Upon.

The most encouraging things to me are how consistent this team has become, how they make adjustments, and how they play for 60 minutes. They haven't always played their best, but they played a bad game since Pittsburgh.

I knew down 7-6 that they would put together a 2 minute drive. I knew they would come out better in the 2nd half. I knew Drake Maye would heat up. I expect the deep throw to Boutte to be a TD. I knew the defense would make adjustments, and hold Cleveland to under 17.

That's pretty remarkable in today's NFL, and given where the team was not long ago.
