There's a risk factor at work for Belichick (TBT)

I only got to know a game like football existed during the 2001 season 2 yrs into this country but I have read somewhere that bledsoe went and campaigned to BB that he should start the SB because brady was inexperienced and all that. Is that true ?
Not inexperienced but Brady was slightly hurt in the AFC Championship game and Bledsoe vame in and threw a TD pass. There was a debate about who would start until BB announced Brady was the starter....

Drew was Borges's' team snitch and the plagiarist paid his debts writing this crap. I'm sure that BB knew the lay of the land identifying the previous administrations pets and snitches as a first order of business and was hardly surprised at Drew's 'all about me' attitude. Bledsoe made millions with a big football arm, a small football brain, and a complacent, deserving attitude. Being ungrateful for that kind of monetary success is and was characteristically petty of him. Hindsight is great but I was not a Bledsooian at all and was elated when Brady took over. Drew was Wally Pipped and he had a right to be disappointed but he didn't exactly go with any dignity. He behaved like a petulant child for a long, long time.

I think you have some of that correct and some of it wrong.

Although Bledsoe did have a strong arm and didn't use it as effectively as we had hoped, he didn't come across as all about me, petty or as a petulant child, as you suggest. Had he treated his demotion differently he would have split that locker room in half and they would not have gone on to win the SB.

I remember coming back from the last game at Charlotte that year and arguing with a still rather large group of Bledsholes about the benefits of Brady and the team. One fan, who I still tease when I see him now, told me that "the Pats might be able to win the AFC but there's no way they beat the Rams" even though the playoffs hadn't even started yet. I thought at the time that the Pats loss to the Rams during the season showed that they could play with them.

There was also a Bledshole that I worked with who was still claiming after 2003 that the Pats would have won those SBs with Bledsoe too. He still might believe that. I never did. It was pretty obvious, almost from the beginning that Brady did more things better than Drew.

The irony is that if Belichick was as bad at his job as Borges, Tanguay, and the rest of the media hacks are at theirs he never would have made it past picking Matchibroda's laundry up.

Later in that Steelers game Bledsoe started to revert back to Bad Drew when ha was being sacked and tried to throw a half ass pass backwards as he was falling down. That penchant for trying to force things is what separated him from Brady in a bad way.

That was the game when Steelers DB Lee Flowers tried to end Brady's career with an "accidental" shot to his knee. Flowers could have won an Oscar for the way he acted as if he had been knocked down.

If there were true justice in the world, every time Borges predicted Bellichick would lose his job for some perceived wrong decision, Borges would lose his job. If that were the case Borges would be in triple digits in employers and would be plying his "craft" in some neighborhood paper in North Dakota.

But there is no justice in the world and I STILL have to occasionally have to turn off some sports show because they booked him for some reason. It is more than ironic and also a bit sad, in covering a game that is viewed as a pure meritocracy, Borges and his ilk are free to skate through life with ZERO accountability and NEVER having to say they are either wrong or sorry.

And now would be the appropriate time to pull out Borges' commentary on the the drafting of Richard Seymour, and the 2006 Cold Hard Football Facts story on Borges, which are favorites of mine from the long list from the " Ron Borges HOF of wrongness".

BTW- it is interesting and stunning to note that in the near decade since that article Borges STILL hasn't been right about any football article he's written about

football. Why Ron Borges should be fired

“On a day when they could have had impact players David Terrell or Koren Robinson or the second best tackle in the draft Kenyatta Walker, they took Georgia defensive tackle Richard Seymour who had 1 1/2 sacks last year in the pass-happy SEC, and is too tall to play tackle at 6-6 and too slow to play defensive end. This genius move was followed by trading out of a spot where they could have gotten the last decent receiver in the draft Robert Fergusonand settled for tackle Matt Light, who will not help any time soon.” Ron Borges

Correct me if I am wrong, but wasn't there a story about how Borges was so close to Bledsoe that Bledsoe had him over for dinner at his house?

lol, picking Brady over Bledsoe was just like picking Todd Philcox over Bernie Kosar. Nice call, Ron!

It is obvious that Wrong Bogus never attended summer camp at Smithfield. I did several times. 2nd year TFB who was unknown to me as I don't follow college ball, played consistently better than Drew. Anyone paying even slight attention noticed that the offense really responded to the guy and he was clearly in command and on top of the O. OK anyone except the Bledsoe Krishnas.

Borges played the odds...31/32 chances each year that NE would not hoist a trophy. If NE only drafted Borges' binky David Terrell...Ron would likely have won out.

Was gonna say that too.

I have that play firmly in my memory of Drew and for all he did (with Kraft) to resurrect the franchise, that incompletion that came ohhh so close to being a pick 6 was the 100% proof to me that bledsoe was toast and BB had been right all season long (since Drew recovered). Til then i still had rose colored rearview mirror glasses about drew's career and thought it was just choice of old-1A vs young-1B and coach knows best.

Coaches who listen to fans and media $#@!'s with an agenda will be out of a job. Those who coach and put the best product on the field stand a better chance of sticking around. Borges should do a piece on why BB is the longest tenure coach for his team or get out of reporting on the Patriots.

Be nice if we could push back on the media to get their drivel out of our lives (and I don't read any of these guys articles, just the comments from people on this board. I still won't knowingly go into the Herald to read a story....they got a lifetime ban from me).

Then again, I try to avoid negative news in general. Haven't watched local news in 7+ years for that very reason.

And for the record, Drew was not a lifer football player. It wasn't his passion, which is ok and makes me love Brady all the more because he does. I appreciate everything Bledsoe did for us and don't have any negative feelings for him. He was very good for the franchise and I hope he is thoroughly enjoying his post-NFL life.

Borges is irrelevant to me with one glaring exception, he holds the New England region HOF vote, and I would bet he speaks out against Belichick and Brady as first ballot Hall of Fame candidates. He's complete scum and has no business having that role. I would love to see a real effort to step him of it and have Curran take his place.

Correctomundo. It was as easy to see as the yellow teeth on Bogus's face.

Some of the Brady fans were so obnoxious about it that I started calling them Bledsholes, especially when they continued on after Brady finally brought the Pats to the promised land.

On USENET and the ancient still living Patriots Mailing List us early Brady supporters were called Brady's Ladies and Drew's folks Bledsoe Krishnas. Epic battles.

Got loads of **** from a devout Krishna when Patriots Mailing List folks traveled to San Diego in 2002 and Brady had his annual mindless stupid pick game throwing 2 INTs as the Pats lost.
Also got chased from the stadium by an angry cadre of SD fans whom I had the temerity to talk back to. I was really fast back then.

I wonder if Belichick asked for Brady's opinion on Terrell before that draft. Strong possibility.
